Epilogue

Two years have passed since that day. Wysteria found herself next to her best friend Jasmine, both of them wearing beautiful white dresses with long veils and trains. Wysteria turned to Jasmine with a worried look in her eyes. Jasmine gave her a reassuring smile as the doors to the chapel opened and music began to play, signaling them to start walking down the aisle. In the pews on either side were family and friends, smiling at both of them.

At the end of the aisle by the pulpit stood Richard and Jonathan wearing matching tuxedos with different colored ties. When the girls reached the end of the aisle, Wysteria stood by Richard, and Jasmine stood by Jonathan. Both were nervous. Richard’s tail twitched anxiously.

Malachi was performing the ceremony. Despite being the royal wizard, he was also the pastor at the local church. They took their vows and then finally Malachi said:

“You may kiss the bride.”

Richard leaned down nervously and gently pecked Wysteria’ lips. It was her first kiss. She was glad it was Richard. Jasmine was glad her first kiss was Jonathan. Later they gathered for pictures and the reception. The newlyweds fed each other wedding cake as everyone ‘awwwed’.

Then Wysteria’s father came and held out his arm for the first dance. Wysteria had no clue how to dance, but carefully followed what her father was doing. Then Richard came and took over and Wysteria’s mother took the king away to dance with her. Jonathan and Jasmine soon joined them on the dance floor. As the violins and piano played, they spun, dipped and danced the night away. Wysteria couldn’t have been happier.

Later, Wysteria and Jasmine had time to talk as they rested their feet.

“You know what’s good about having a double wedding?” Jasmine asked.

“No, what?” Wysteria replied.

“If one husband forgets our anniversary, the other one is bound to remember and remind him.” Jasmine said laughing.

“That is good.” Wysteria replied, laughing as well.

Not much changed after the marriage. The four still spent a lot of time together talking, laughing, and training with Malachi. The only thing that really changed is that Richard lived at the castle.

A few years passed. Wysteria, Jasmine, and Jonathan were now twenty-six, while Richard was twenty-seven. Jonathan and Jasmine have adorable three year old, twin girls named Amber and Sophia. They have Jasmine’s dirty-blonde hair and Jonathan’s blue eyes . Richard and Wysteria have a four-year-old son and a three-year-old son named Benjamin and Arthur. Both have Richard’s red hair, lion ears, and tail, but they have blue eyes like Wysteria.

It turns out, the children just adore Malachi. All of them call him ‘Uncle Malachi’. He gives them piggy-back rides, shows them magic tricks, and tells them the story of how he and their parents defeated Cyrus. No matter how many times he tells it to them, they always beg to hear it again. Malachi is happy to oblige.

Because the children follow Malachi around like little ducklings, this gives Wysteria, Richard, Jasmine, and Jonathan time to talk and just enjoy each others company. They sit around a table in the garden and chat. Rebane, who is all grown up, sits in Wysteria’s lap and listens to them remember ‘the good ole days’

I won’t say they all lived happily ever after because that would be cliche, but I will say they all lived long and happy lives surrounded by family and friends.

And thus the story of the Four Stones lived on for generations to come
