Interviewer: Today we're joined by the one and only shawn Mendes. How are you shawn?
Shawn: I'm great how are you?
Interviewer: We're good. So your new song "if I can't have you" is out now. Tell us a bit about the song.
Shawn: so the song is about having everything in the world but that not mattering if you don't have the person that you love. I think the song really focuses on how important one person can be to our life.
Interviewer: Now last year when we last spoke, you said that you will no longer make up fake scenarios and every song that you write will be about person experiences. Does this occur with "if i can't have you?"
Shawn: umm yeah this song was written about personal experiences and i think that's one of the reasons why I like it so much. I was going through a rough time and this girl I liked wasn't around and the song basically talks about how I can't cope without her.
Interviewer : Is there a chance of you telling us who this mystery girl is?
Shawn: I think everyone knows who she is.
Interviewer: will there be a music video for the song
Shawn: we haven't started filming it yet but yes there will be and i'm so excited for you guys to see the finished product because I have great ideas for it
