Michael and I took time to heal and help each other. We got rid of all the bodies and cleaned the house. I told Michael about my plan and he was on board. He handled the money and let me take care of everything else.
His dad had a lowkey warehouse where all his product was made. The people that worked there had no problem with me taking over.
Luther was behind with a large deal of Coke. He had the drop locations listed so Mike and I handled it. I had seen Rocky and the boys in action first hand so none of this was really new.
Some of the others that worked for his dad were more than happy about him no longer being in the picture. They didn't give us any problems and continued doing their jobs. Mike and I sat in the kitchen for breakfast.
"Mike?"
"Yeah?" He asked looking up at me.
"I want to see my family." He smiled softly and grabbed my hand.
"They're welcome here, always." I smiled.
"Thank you."
"I got you. No matter what." He nodded. I smiled and leaned over to kiss him softly. We weren't really together. We flirted, shared a few kisses, hooked up a couple of times, but it wasn't anything more than that. I was scared to give my heart to him. Or to anybody for that matter.
I excused myself and went to contact my mother. I was nervous waiting for her to answer the phone. When she finally did, I couldn't stop the tears that formed from hearing her voice.
"Hello?" She repeated again.
"M-mom?" I croaked out. It was quiet for a moment.
"Amber? Baby is that you?"
"It's me ma. God I missed your voice." We talked and cried and she was more than happy to come out to Cali. I paid for everyone's tickets and was expecting them tomorrow night. I managed to get off the phone and smiled to myself.
I walked out of my room and up to the office where Mike usually was. I walked in seeing him working.
"What you up to?" I asked sitting down.
"I'm calculating this year's salary. Did you talk to your mom?" I smiled and nodded.
"They'll be here tomorrow night." He smiled.
"Amber that's great." I smiled and nodded.
"I have some ideas about work. I think we should expand it." He folded his hands and nodded.
"Okay what do you have in mind?"
"Your dad was well known throughout the states but he only did business here. So why don't we take our product to the other states." I shrugged.
"I like how you think woman." He smiled. I giggled standing up.
"We're going to be bigger than ever." He smiled.
"I don't doubt that. You coming to my match tonight?" He asked. Besides school, Mike has always been into boxing apparently. It explains his figure. Recently he started taking it serious but he's been making a name for himself.
"I wouldn't miss it for the world." I smiled.
"Good, I gotta go practice but I'll see you later." I nodded and watched him leave. I looked at the time and seen that I was running a little late for my lunch date with a few mob wives. I met them a little while ago and was surprised when they were around my age. But they were all nice.
I went outside where my driver was waiting in the car. He saw me and got out opening my door.
"Thank you Pete."
"Of course Ms. Davis." He got back in and drove to the resturant I was suppose to be at. We got there and he opened my door letting me out. I went into the restaurant and spotted the girls instantly. I walked over and took my seat.
"Nice of you to finally join us." I playfully rolled my eyes.
"I'm here aren't I?"
"So now that you're out in public more, people have taken notice. They wanna know what happened all those months back." Giselle said. I nodded.
"I know. Mike and I are working on that." The girls grinned.
"Is that the only thing you two are working on?" Isabella asked.
"Well, the business." I shrugged.
"Mike is a good looking guy, he's kind and he can support you, why are you not with him?" Eva asked.
"You know the answer to that."
"Your trust issues yeah, but you deserve to be happy."
I thought about what they said. I thought about it all through lunch. Currently I was getting ready for the match. I looked over my outfit and smiled.
Pete was waiting for me outside, to drive me to where the fight was taking place. Not only was Pete my driver, but he was my personal body guard as well.
We got there and went inside looking for Mike. I spotted his trainer and walked over. I greeted him and he led me to the back where Mike was warming up.
I smiled seeing him in his boxing attire. He smiled and walked over to me. He looked around at his crew.
"Can y'all give us a minute?" They nodded walking out. I looked up at him and smirked when he grabbed my waist.
"Am I getting lucky tonight?" I shrugged.
"That all depends on if you win." I winked. He playfully rolled his eyes. I chuckled and leaned up to kiss him. He deepened the kiss and grabbed my ass. I smirked and pulled away.
"I'm gonna go take my seat. Knock em dead boo." I waved before walking out. People were flowing inside. I went to sit in the front row of his corner. The lights dimmed meaning that the match was about to start. They introduced the other guy first.
He walked out and my eyes widen at how big he was in person. But I had faith in Mike. He'll be fine. They introduced him causing me to cheer him on loudly. He passed me and winked before getting in the ring.
When the fight started, I watched in amazement at how well Mike was doing. But then he got knocked down really hard and I got worried. It went downhill from there. He was taking hit after hit.
"Looks like your boy ain't doing too good." I tensed up hearing that voice. I looked next to me to see Rocky.
