Airport... StillI leaned against the wall and lit a cigarette. I glanced behind me to see Vinny start to tie his shoe, and then get distracted with something else. I shook my head. God he was so annoying. If it weren't for him, we could have been home already. But Mr. I- Forget- Every - Fucking - Thing - Ever held us up all day.
damn, I love this man.
I look out at the flat desert on one side of the runway. Behind us play the city. I looked towards the settings on with this read glow. Usually it would be pretty. But something about it seemed so ominous now. We needed to get home. I was about to turn in asked Vinny if you was ready when the staff door on the side of the building opened. Out popped Chris and Ricky.
I almost smiled; stay were by far the best passengers I've ever had. But they didn't look happy. At first glance, Chris looks pissed. The I've been flying for the army for the better side 10 years. I've seen a lot of people in many different emotions come through my helicopter, and Chris was by no means angry. He was terrified."Fuck!" see yelled before punching the cement wall. Ricky jumped and looked away. Chris punch the wall a second and third time before they noticed me. Is hand was covered and blood and rock.
"I got a first aid kit on the chopper." I said.
I flicked my cigarette to the ground and turned. They both followed."Okay, I'm– oh my god!" does any said when he seen us. He moved his bag so Chris couldn't down.
"Your better at this than I am." I gave the kit to my match.
as though he spent years in medical school, he started tending our new friends hand like a pro. Of course, it's my understanding that he spent most of his life and skatepark. I'm sure he seems plenty of injuries. Yeah, a match should know these things. But my defense it's only been like 8 months. They're still so much to learn about each other.
I shook some thoughts from my head."Didn't find what you were looking for?" I asked Ricky.
Chris gave a heartless chuckle and shook his head.
"We got his name. That's it." Ricky handle me a paper."She was right there..." Chris seemed to be talking to himself. Really looking at him, I realized that chuckle hadn't been for me. He's really not all there right now.
"His mom." Ricky said. "Remington I mean. We bumped into her earlier. At least that's who Chris thinks she is."
wheel started turning in my head and. I looked at the man once again sitting in my chopper. Vinny poured straight alcohol on his knuckles, but he didn't Lynch. He didn't react at all. Just this morning, he was laughing and smiling like a big goofball. I wasn't sure how much time he had left on his watch, but I had to be closed. It's hard to imagine it in a couple weeks maybe, this man would never laugh again.
"Do you have some others name?" I asked.
Ricky nudged Chris's shoes.
"Chris, did you catch her name?"His eyes finally focused.
"What? Ahhhhh!" The pain finally registered and he gritted his teeth. "No. No name."
I stared at the profile in my hand. I memorized face and his name, the only bit of information there was.
"I know some people. Give me a day and I'll have his number and address." I handed the paper back to Ricky.
"How much time do you have left?" Vinny asked.
Why must he ways say the wrong thing?
"A week." Ricky replied.
"And a half." Chris added.
