You sat on the bed whilst lightly brushing through your hair with a small comb. You quietly hummed as you untangled your hair and got ready for bed. Augustus was going to come home late yet again and you sighed at the thought. Being the emperor of the empire was not easy and you knew that, but you hated when he came home late. He was so busy lately. It didn't help that he didn't bother telling you what he busied himself with. He would usually just answer your questions briefly, but it wasn't enough. You wanted at least a whole day with him alone. You supposed that you couldn't be bothered to have that. You heard voices outside your bedroom and the sound of footsteps. It must be him, the emperor you married not too long ago. Augustus came into the bedroom and announced his arrival with a proud voice. You only gave a look of unamusement his way before putting down your comb.

"(y/n)?" he said as he stepped closer to you. Usually you were very affectionate whenever you saw him and this sudden coldness shocked him. What did he do so wrong to provoke such a reaction from you? You only ignored him as you crawled into bed.

"amica mea (my love), what is wrong?" he asked as he approached the bed and sat at the edge of it. You sat up and looked at him. Your eyebrows were slightly furrowed together in an irritated expression.

"It has been exactly fourteen days, Augustus," you replied in a monotone voice.

"Fourteen days of what?"

"Fourteen days in a row that you came home late." Augustus chuckled as if he heard something ridiculous.

"And? You do know that being emperor is not all fun and games," he said with a smile on his face. You gave him a scowl which made him drop his smile.

"Yes, I know that, but we barely have time together," you said now crossing your arms. He stood up and raised his arms up in an excitement of emotion.

"So? It's not my fault!" he exclaimed. You scoffed.

"Sure, whatever. I'm too tired to have this argument with you anyways so I'll just go to sleep," you said before laying back down.

"Excuse me?" Augustus was clearly amazed by your attitude. You ignore him and tried your best to go to sleep. He shook his head as he exited the room.

"Women...they're all so difficult," he muttered tiredly. He knew he'll have to look forward to the same attitude tomorrow which he hated. Maybe then they can settle whatever it was you were so pissed about. Now he decided to get some sleep. He assumed you wouldn't let him sleep in the same bed as you so he decided to use the couch as a temporary bed. It looked comfortable anyways.
