Dante had been exiled from Florence and had received a large fine. He strictly believed that he didn't have to pay the fine because he believed he was not guilty of anything and also because all his assets in Florence had been seized by the Black Guelphs. You, his loyal wife, had followed him and also believed he wasn't guilty of anything. It was a shame he had to be exiled, but what could you two do? You both ended up getting a small place for yourselves. At that time was when Dante started writing.
He called his work the Divine Comedy which interested you. One day you had walked into his study, which was in the basement. You noticed that he was, as usual, writing. He occasionally dipped his pen into a nearby ink pot and continued on whilst muttering to himself. At his desk was a candle and it was the only thing lighting up the dark abyss of a room. You slowly inched closer behind him and placed your hand on his shoulder. He flinched and looked behind him quickly, only to sigh in relief. It was just you.
"Don't scare me like that!" he said in an annoyed tone.
"Sorry! I didn't mean to!" you replied with a giggle. "I just wanted to see what you were up to." Dante placed his pen down next to the sheet of paper he was writing on. He then pointed to the paper.
"I was writing," he stated.
"I can see that. Can I read it?" you asked. Dante shrugged and handed you the paper. You took the candle on his desk and held it next to the paper so you could use the light to read it, but was careful not to put the flame close to the paper. Any sensible person would realize that paper is flammable and having any sort of flame dangerously close to anything flammable was a serious fire hazard. Your eyes skimmed over words and sentences as you read. His words were sophisticated and filled with emotion. His writing style was interesting and you quite enjoyed his works. After reading you placed the paper and candle back on his desk with a smile.
"The story seems quite interesting so far! What's it about?" you asked curiously.
"Ah, ah, ah! Sorry, no spoilers of any kind," he replied with a playful grin and chuckle. You pouted in mock sadness, but returned his grin with a smile.
"Well, I'll be interested to read your finished product soon. Can I at least know the name of the story?"
"Inferno," he replied. Your mouth formed an "o" shape as you were intrigued by this. You just hoped he could at least give you a summary of his story! But, alas, you would have to wait until he's finished. You just couldn't wait to read this spectacular tale! The first few sentences interested you greatly already. His word choice was indeed compelling.
Midway upon the road of our life I found myself upon a dark wood, for the right way had been missed. Ah! How hard a thing it is to tell what this wild and rough and dense wood was, which in thought renews the fear! So bitter is it that death is little more. But in order to treat of the good that there I found, I will tell of the other things that I have seen there.
"Close your mouth or flies will get in," Dante jokingly said which brought you out of your thoughts. You quickly closed your mouth and giggled.
"Well, I'll go and prepare supper, I'll call you when it's ready," you said. Dante nodded and you left. You climbed up the steps out of the basement and to the kitchen you went.

FanficSo basically this is a book with a bunch of reader inserts of random historical figures from Ivan the Terrible to King George III and Christopher Columbus to Julius Caesar. Please take this as a joke, I did this because I got bored and I thought it...
