Sirens

I woke up hearing soft melodies of an effortlessly played guitar and Eddie quietly singing to himself. I sat up realizing his absence beside me. Eddie was sitting on the couch, still shirtless from the nights sleep. The sun reflecting off of his perfectly sculpted torso. He held a blue pen between his teeth as he strummed the guitar.

I watched him for a moment, admiring him in his element. The morning sun was coming through the window on him like a spotlight from the heavens. His brow furrowed as he scratched out lines and rewrote them, and then softened again when he resumed humming the melody.

"Okay boy, let me know how this sounds." Eddie spoke to Rooster who was laying at his feet gnawing a bone.

Eddie adjusted the guitar in his lap, took a sip from his coffee mug, and cleared his throat.

Hear the sirens,
Hear the circus so profound.
I hear the sirens
More and more in this here town

Let me catch my breath to breathe
And reach across the bed
Just to know we're safe
I am a grateful man

The slightest bit of light
And I can see you clear
Oh, have to take your hand
And feel your breath for fear this someday will be over

I pull you close, so much to lose knowing that nothing lasts forever
I didn't care before you were here.
I danced in laughter with the everafter
But all things change
Let this remain

I pulled the covers off of my legs and quietly tip toed out of bed trying not to disturb him. I made my way over to him where he was seated on the couch.

He looked up at me beaming that flawless Vedder smile, with the morning sun rays reflecting colors that would put Picasso's blue period to shame. "Good morning my little muse." He took the guitar from his lap and laid it on the coffee table.

"It's nice having your voice be the first thing I've heard today." A sweet sleepy smile rested on my face.

Eddie grabbed my arm and swept my legs out from under me and before I could react I was sat on his lap with his arms wrapped around me. "I'll just have to be around more mornings then, won't I?" He brought his face down to mine and kissed me.

I giggled at his smoothness. "That was a beautiful song, Eddie."

"I'm glad you think so, you've helped me write it. It's not done yet so don't judge it too harshly." He rubbed the back of his neck letting his shyness get the best of him.

"I'm honored." I kissed his temple drawing his attention back to me.

We spent the most of the day laughing and singing together like we'd known each other for a lifetime. I could feel myself relaxing into a comfortableness with him.

We were sat on the floor playing a rather competitive game of Uno. Eddie was pouting out his bottom lip as dramatically as he could after I hit him with a third draw two card. I have to admit my favorite part was seeing that eyebrow arch and those two little vertical lines between his bows grow more and more prominent with every additional card he drew.

"All's fair in love and war, Rockstar." I winked at him feeling pretty proud of myself for another dominating round.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good game, Princess."

We were both startled by my phone beginning to ring in the most obnoxious tone ever created. I got up off the floor and picked up my phone from my bedside table. "It's Chris, so if you're going to pout, do it quietly, Vedder." I shot him a sly smile and answered the phone wandering over to my mirror mindlessly adjusting my hair.

"How's my girl and my Chicken?" Chris' gravelly voice flowed effortlessly through the phone.

"We're doing amazing, did you survive the winter blast?" My focus was taken off of listening to Chris as I watched Eddie come and stand behind me in the mirror. He slowly moved the hair that had fallen around my neck, exposing my delicate skin. His eyes were glued on mine as he brought his lips down to my neck trailing soft kisses and bites down my throat. His other arm snaking around just above my hips, pulling me flush against him.

My breathing must've hitched because Chris asked if I was okay. "Yeah..uhm I saw a spider."

Eddie started trailing his hands over my body. Running his thumb softly over my lower lip, down my neck to my breast and then his hand continued trailing achingly slow down my abdomen before it stopped just at the waistband of my shorts. My eyes met his once again in the mirror before me. "All is fair in love and war, sweetheart." He whispered, mimicking my own words into my ear sending and avalanche of shivers down my spine. He slipped his warm calloused hand under the fabric of my shorts and rubbed slow, torturous circles over my center.

"Syd, do I need to come up there and kill that spider for you or what? You sound out of breath." Chris asked, reminding me I was still on the phone.

"Wait..did you say come up? Are you in the record store?" My heart that was beating like rapid fire was now at a dead standstill. Eddies eyes widened and his hand stopped moving its delectable dance over my most sensitive area.

"Yeah, they must've plowed the streets this morning. I came to grab my Gibson but I can't seem to find it. Did I leave it up there, Syd?" My heart sank as my eyes locked onto Chris' guitar laying on my couch.

"Uhm, let me look for it and I'll bring it down-" the panic was setting in for both Eddie and I.

"No need, I'm coming up."

Click.

"You gotta go. He's coming!" I quickly gave Eddie his shirt, shoes and jacket and pushed him to my fire escape where I had found him the night before.

"Fuck fuck fuck, I'm gonna see you later, okay? I had so-" Eddie tried saying his goodbyes but I could hear Chris coming up the old creaky stairs.

"No time!" I gave him a kiss and pushed him out the window. "I'll see you soon, Romeo." I closed the window just in time for a knock at my apartment door.

I quickly kicked a whole pile of Uno cards under my bed and straightened out my disheveled hair and clothes. My heart was practically bursting out of my chest as I finally swung the door open.

"Chris! Hey! How are you, pal?!"

Woah, calm the fuck down Sydney. Way to not act suspicious, genius.

"Uhm, I'm good...pal." He laughed at my awkwardness, thankfully. "What took so long? What the hell were you in here doing, huh?" He raised an eyebrow at me suspiciously.

"I was naked." I blurted out before I could think of anything better.

"Hm, damn. I knew I should've just used my key." He snapped his fingers playing disappointed.

"Haha, very funny Chris."

"Chicken!" Chris hoisted Rooster up, holding him like an oversized toddler and spinning him around while he attacked Chris' face with slobbery dog kisses.

"Would you two like some privacy?" I made a disgusted face pretending like it wasn't the cutest fucking thing I've ever seen.

"You guys wanna come to the studio with me? Stone and Mike wanted some feed back on some tracks and maybe we can get you in the studio too." He elbowed my side wiggling his brows at me.

As if.

"Yeah sure, right after you do, Cornell." I rolled my eyes at him. "But, sure we'll come. It'll be fun."
