The World We Once Knew

Chapter Nine

Logan

"Why would Grandpa Mason just leave like that?" What did you say to him?" I shout at my father. 

"Nothing! I didn't say anything to him!" he shouts back. 

"You're a liar!" I shout and run back into my tent. I change into clothes, grab my weapons and bring my bike out. 

"Where the hell are you going?" my father yells at me. 

"To find my damn grandfather!" I shout back. 

"He doesn't want you or anyone else to follow him!" my dad yells. 

"I don't care!" I shout and I go to start my engine and next thing I know I'm on the ground. My dad has ripped me off my bike. I tackle him and he pushes me off. My grandmother is yelling at us to stop. I get up and so does he. I throw a punch and he blocks, I go to kick and he blocks again. I right hook him in the jaw and he punches me in the face. I fall back with the shock of it.

Next thing I know Grandma Ginny is by my side holding my head. "Why the fuck would you punch your own daughter! You bastard!" she screams at him. She helps me up and rushes into her tent, when she comes out she has something with her. She grabs my hand and we go into my tent. Grandma Ginny cleans my face up and looks at the little cut under my eye: "That should heal up and not leave a scar at all." I don't say anything. The events over not just the past few hours but days have just been too much to process. So I just sit there while she cleans me up. 

Outside we can hear my Grandpa Shane and dad talking "I didn't mean to hit her. Especially not that hard. I would never harm my baby girl." My dad whines to my grandpa.

 "I know but you did. So now you are going to have to deal with the consequences, son." Replies Grandpa Shane.

Then there's silence. I can't take it anymore. I stand up and put my jacket on. I unzip my tent and then walk outside to pick up my weapons. I put on my helmet and start my engine. 

"Where are you going?"shouts my dad. 

"To kill someone!" I yell back. 

Then I leave.
