Chapter Twenty

Logan

I was super nervous about getting involved with Akoni. But he showed me that he has a soft side to him. He cried in front of me and wasn't ashamed. So I brought him some food and then I kissed him. I didn't mean for it to go that far. But I'm glad it did. He was so gentle with me and he made sure it was okay with me. Akoni makes me feel like I'm safe. Like I don't have to have my walls up around him. I feel as if I can be myself around him. This scares me more than anything. I just met him and since I laid my eyes on him, I've wanted him. I've never felt this way about anyone.

I wake up in his arms facing the other bed in the room. I roll around to look at him. He is still sleeping and he looks so young. It is as if he is a child again, with no responsibility. He opens his eyes slowly and looks at me. "Good morning." he says very sweetly. 

"Good mornin'." I say and then steal a kiss from him. 

He smiles and then sighs laying his head back down on the pillow. "We have to get up don't we?" he whisper to me, as if not to disturb the tranquility of the morn.

 I nod, "Yeah, yeah we do." He buries his face into my hair.

There is little knock on the door. "Yes." he calls out. "Koni boy cans I comes in?" rings out a sweet little voice. 

He sighs and I look at him, "Let her in it's fine. They're gonna to know about us sooner or later anyway." I say to him.

 He looks at me, "You have no idea what you just signed up for." he says as he starts getting up. 

"Hey, toss me a shirt and my underwear will ya?" I say. He does and then puts on his boxers and opens a drawer. He finds sweatpants and puts those on. Then he goes to the door and looks at me, I nod and he unlocks it then opens it. His little sister is there waiting for him. She looks up with a smile on her face and then jumps up so he has to hold her.

"Half Pint, this is Logan." he says to her.

"Hi! I'm Kenzie!" she says very excitedly. She wiggles around in his arms, so he puts her down and she runs and jumps on to the bed. She crawls up until she is sitting right in front of me. "I'm six years old." she tells me holding up six fingers. Akoni walks back to the bed, I look up at him and there is something in his eyes. I can't quite decipher it but it's there. He definitely has a caring and protecting type of personality. He sits down on the bed next to me and Kenzie crawls into his lap. He kisses her head and puts his arms around her, it reminded me of the way my father would hold me when I was a little girl. "Did you sleep here last night?" Kenzie asks me.

I smile, "Yes, I did." I respond.

"I knew it. It's because you and I are supposed to share a room and your stuff was there but you weren't." she tells me very matter of a factly.

"Is that so?" I say to her, "Well maybe you should become a detective, because you are very good at putting the pieces together."

She smiles and then looks at her brother, "What's wrong Koni boy? You look sad." she says to him as she pushes the corners of his mouth up.

He gives her a smile, "I'm not sad Half Pint," he says to her, "I'm just simply taking in the moment right now." He says it so gently and calmly that she smiles at him and then gets down. 

"Where are you going?" I ask her. 

"To get breaky. There's going to be pancakes and waffles!" she shouts as she shuts the door and then we hear her little feet running down the hallway. Akoni starts laughing. I look at him, he looks very angelic. I push back the covers and stand up.
