This is inspired by Girl on a train and it's from Austin's point of view

"Babe I'm home" I yelled out into the quiet apartment, when I heard no response I walked into the kitchen thinking Rachel wasn't home. I was startled by her presence in the kitchen, she sat looking ahead a cup of coffee in her hands as she blinked mindlessly

"Hey, didn't you hear me calling you?" I said going to give her a kiss
"She called again" Rachel said getting up and dodging my kiss at once. I sighed and placed my jacket on the chair
"9 times Austin and the voicemails are even worse" she informed me pouring the coffee down the drain
"I'll deal-
"You said you'd deal with her last time and yet she's still calling Austin" Rachel said turning to finally look me in the eye
"Rache-
"Look Austin, if you don't deal with her I'll do it myself because I will not risk the safety of my son because of your deranged ex" she said poking my chest before walking off

Y/N and I had split up last year after she found out I was having an affair with Rachel. I didn't mean to have an affair, I had just fallen in love with the chase and we'll Rachel brought a new perspective to my one dimensional life and it enticed me but after finding out Y/N began drinking uncontrollably which inevitably resulted in our divorce, that only seemed to fuel her drinking more

Not so long ago she broke into our house while Rach was sleeping. Rachel found her sitting with our daughter in the back yard cradling her while softly humming before she called the police. I had drop the charges because I trusted she wouldn't do anything to the baby.

Pulling up to the apartment she stayed in with her friend I sighed, running a hand through my hair before walking out to the door. I knocked twice before her friend opened

"y/N it's for you" she said without taking her eyes off me

Y/N walked in, hair messing and sweat pants. She froze at the sight of me but shook it off. She signalled for me to come in but I shook my head

"I'm only here for a while" I said coldly
"Okay, what's up?" She asked
"Stop." I said

She let out a laugh, looking at me puzzled as she did so but I held a cold expression
"I- I don't understand-
"You don't understand because you're always hammered Y/N!" I yelled slamming my hand on her door making her flinch
"Austin-
"No! Stop calling us now! I gave you the benefit of the doubt and got you out of jail and this is how you replay me! Join AA or something but get your little alcoholic ass into rehab I will not have you threaten my families safely again Y/N" I said looking her in the eye. Her eyes glossed over with tears
"Austin I'm sorry-
"You said that last time and now look!" I said shoving my screen in her face to show her the multiple calls and messages she had left in a space of four hours
"I didn't know what I was doing" she said as tears split over her amber eyes
"You calling my house and my work phone, threatening to kill Rach and the baby" I shook my head "you're disgusting, drinking in broad daylight like some unemployed man!"
"I'm trying okay!" She snapped grabbing her head and shaking it as if I was some bad voice in her head
"Maybe I should have left you in jail" I replied coldly
"No" she said looking into my eyes "you don't mean that Austin"
"Goodbye Y/N"

I straightened my coat, walking away from the strangled cries and screams that emitted from the apartment of my name from Y/N. I left in hopes that she would finally get the message, which she did but weeks later I was hit with a message, a message I never thought would hurt as much
