Recap:

Ashton walks to a corner of the room, beckoning Linda over with one hand. Ashton sets me down on the floor gently, untangling my limbs from his. He leans down towards me, crouching on the balls of his feet, and rests his forehead against mine.

I look into his chocolate brown eyes, watching him with my watery blue ones. He looks like he is about to tell me something, then decides against it.

He slowly brings one of his hands up to my face, cupping my cheek in his palm. His slender fingers brush my hair out of my eyes tenderly as he presses his lips against my forehead. The same sparks that are usually there rocket down my body, making me feel warm and secure. Softly he brushes his nose against mine, making a small smile come to my lips.

"Please come back safe. Please." I plead with him, whispering in his ear before he moves his head away from mine.

Ashton kisses my forehead again, letting his lips linger longer than a normal kiss. His thumb strokes my cheek lightly. "I will, angel. I promise I will."

(Ashton's POV)

My face contorts into a pained expression as I turn and walk away from Rosy. My lips are tingling from touching her skin, even if it was just two small kisses to her forehead.

I hate leaving her like this, I hate leaving her alone. I know my Mum will protect her as best as she can, but I can't help but think I could do it better.

I was so close to telling Rosy she was my mate when Joshua walked in. I wanted to tell her.

But the fact that there are rogues attacking is more important. They are not going to take Rosy away from me, ever. To get to her they have to get through me.

I stalk out of the house, nodding to a couple of the wolves prowling around guarding the pack house with the pregnant, young, elderly and the woman who aren't fighting in it. In my pack, if you are capable of fighting and actually want to do it, then you will be taught. Every wolf knows the basics of fighting and can hold their own, but some prefer to stay with the non-fighters.

When I get into the trees I strip as I walk, and shift into my huge black wolf. My eyes are still brown. I start running faster to where I know the fight is going on.

It's in a clearing, not Rosy's clearing but a much larger one. The smell of dirty fur and blood fills my nose, as well as the smell of my pack.

I start running faster, my eyes switching to molten yellow as rage sets in. Who dares to attack my pack and thinks they can get away with it? My pack is one of the strongest in the country; we are not to be taken lightly.

When I reach the clearing, all I see is wolves fighting everywhere. People I know are being injured or killed, which hurts a lot.

I leap at one of the rogues as he jumps for a smaller wolf from my pack. We collide in mid air with a thumping sound, dropping back to the ground in a tangle of teeth and claws.

I use my greater strength to my advantage as I force him into a lower position, wrapping my jaws around his neck in one fluid and twisting. I pay no attention to the faint snapping sound as I drop the body from my jaws.

The wolf he was about to attack whines quietly at me, before jumping back into the fray.

I do the same, leaping at a wolf with its back to me and clawing down its spine. I lose count of how many wolves I injure or kill, but I stop the rogues from killing my pack as much as I can. I didn't know there were so many of them.
