"Orphan seed, dreams of trees.
Shed's a tear, waters itself. "The much awaited date had finally arrived , it was the end of month. Today was the only day when servants of Kedambari Nevas didn't mind waking up early in morning and rushing for work. Although, despite of being the richest family in town Mrs. Roy didn't pay her employees generously. A demand for bonus or extra work wages were a far fetched cry. Nevertheless everyone use to wait for this day on top of their heels.
Piku was a little concerned for Razia as she was to receive her first pay and she wasn't well versed with Mrs. Roy's gruesome policies. In their utmost excitement little did anyone know what shockingly miraculous incident was to happen today. All the servants of villa were payed by there maimsahib, some were greeted with stern glances and others with curt but cruel comments.
Alas, it was Razia's tern to ask for her fair share from the devil. But the shocking part wasn't that Mrs. Roy again took a severe dig at Razia being not only hijabi but also a callous worker. The word 'shocking' isn't even used for the fact that Mrs. Roy wanted to cut a large chunk of payment from Razia's already meager share because she broke her precious china glass. This time the 'shocking' factor was Razia.
She didn't start staring the ground with eyes at verge of tears. A common personality trait that even Piku was afraid, that yet again it would show up. This time Piku's friend stook a stand for herself and argued back. She shouted on top of her voice that the piece of identity that she chooses to wear on her head does not makes her any less human. She argued on what pretext was she being payed less than other housemaids ? She demanded her full payment and boldly stated that she has suffered enough humiliation for that broken piece of glass. She even went ahead to claim that the amount Mrs. Roy was associating with the glass was highly exaggerated.
Finally maimsahib gave in. She gave Razia her full and final payment but dismissed her from this job. This didn't make Piku's friend cry, rather she took her salary and stormed off the villa with her head held high.
