Wes Jade stood on the unfinished porch of his new house. His tall, masculine frame dominated the surroundings. He took a deep breath and looked over the pastures and plains that were his ranch. It was a beautiful endless sea of the green grass that his cattle peacefully grazed on.The mountains in the background stood proud and tall. Their picks adorned with snow ensured steady supply of water.

His ranch was yet the ranch without a name. It bordered the Big J ranch, where Wes still lived with his parents and brothers. Wes's family was one of the wealthiest in the country. Jade's family vast wealth came in from numerous business and investments all over the country and only grew each day more. His father Roy bought a ranch for each of his sons after they were born.

The four Jade brothers worked hard alongside their hired help and they never thought the task was beneath them. They also had their share of fun any chance they got. Wherever the Jade brothers went they were always the center of attention. Women found them irresistible. Wes mostly had all he ever wanted and that result in him developing a dose of arrogance. He rode the best horse, he wore expensive clothes and he traveled when he desired. It all showed around his arrogant firm mouth, the way he smiled and walked. He felt that lately the trips anywhere regardless was it to Elms or somewhere else lost their appeal.

In his younger days he had his share of girls. Some of them hoped that he'll fall in love and marry them , but Wes never hid his ways. It was all in open and it was all play and fun. Unlike his brother Austin he always looked after a good looking female and never missed the opportunity to send them his devastating smile. His dark eyes sparkled with mischief most of the time. Lately something was missing in his life and he didn't know what, so he thought if he builds the house will fix that.

Wes strode down the stairs and made a few more steps and turned around. With pride he observed what soon will be his new home. He chose to build a log house on a little hill by the mountain stream. The things were progressing nicely, and his huge dweling was almost in the last stages to be finished. Wes liked this style of building because of the uniqueness of each house build. This one won't be less grand than the main house but it will be built to his specifications. The huge porch overlooked the valley below while the huge logs hold the structure. From the inside the widows offered the same view. The hand carved staircase leading to the long hallway upstairs. The huge modern kitchen was placed in the back of the house. The ride to Kenth was little longer than from Big J but totally worth it.

The last of the workers were leaving for the day," See you tomorrow Mr. Jade.", the young guy addressed him before he left.

"See you tomorrow Jack." Wes replied and wiped his brow, it was late afternoon but the temperature still didn't go down. He decided to wrap up for the day and also go back home. Lazily with pride he rode over the pastures and observed the cattle.

His horse slowly entered the yard at Big J., and as soon as he dismounted the four year old girl run out of the house with her dark mane of hair carried by the wind all over her face and around her. " Wes, Wes, you are home!!!!" The little replica of her mother excitedly screamed.

"Watch out Grace one of those days you will hurt yourself like this! Where is your brother?"

"No, I won't hurt myself. I'm always careful uncle Wes! Oh, my brother, he is sleeping again. Mom said all babies do that. You know Uncle Wes I'm not a baby any more." She chatted without taking a pause, but her violet eyes shone with excitement. Wes shook his head, because for a second he visioned his own daughter running to him like that. Grace had him wrapped up around her little pinky, and she knew that. Every time he would come back from general store there would be sweet sugar candy for her in his pocket. He picked her up and got rewarded with a big juicy kiss on the cheek. She felt candy that he slipped in her hand, " Thank you Uncle Wes." After he placed her down she run back inside. Wes hoped Olivia wouldn't give him too much trouble for giving Grace candy before supper. His brother Austin came from the direction of the corals, "How are you Wes? How is the house coming?"
