The Experiment [Luke Hemmings]

chapter 5

The man has his hands on his knees and he is panting from exhaustion. I try looking at his eyes from the window, and when we make eye contact he points at me.

"I- I HAVE TO KILL YOU!" He screams at the top of his lungs running towards me. Luke stops him and pushes him to the ground. He calls the police and after a short conversation he gets in the car.

"We have to leave," Luke says with worry in his eyes, starting the engine "this guys crazy. The police will take care of him." He adds driving off.

We stay silent in the car for a couple minutes. Luke finally breaks the silence and asks

"So," he nervously starts scratching the back of his neck "you still up for the movie drive inn thingy?" He asks shrugging.

"Sure why not, but just lock the doors I'm kinda freaked out" I respond, and I hear my voice shaking. I'm really freaked out right now, but I have to keep calm.

Luke's P.O.V

I drive for a couple more minutes and we arrive at the drive inn theatre. I pay for the tickets, drink and popcorn. I'm actually really nervous about this I don't know why. Today was supposed to be different- ya know not almost dying. I wanted it to be perfect. But I guess that's never possible with Andrea. I'm not sure if I have feelings for her. I mean after I left I was really hurt, but eventually got over it. Now she's back in my life, and I'm not sure if I should keep us as friends, or more. I guess I'll just have to see how it goes.

We walk back to the car and I park at a good spot. The movie had already started but we catch up easily. I picked a scary movie because I want her to be scared so I can have an excuse to hold her. A frightening part comes, and it scares the shit out of me. I jump a bit, but she doesn't even flinch. I see her closing her eyes tightly, not because of the movie though. As if she's remembering something that she wants to forget about.

"Doesn't this scare you one bit" I ask her smirking, as I sip my 7up.

"No not really," she starts "but do you want me to pretend it does or something?" She finishes laughing and she eats popcorn.

I look at her laugh and smile. She's so beautiful. They way she laughs, the way she talks just everything about her.

"Hello??" She says pocking my face, and I snap out of it. She lays on my chest and I wrap my arms around her. She looks up at me and laughs, and put her head backdown. When the movie finishes I drive her back to her apartment. I notice it's really small.

"Hey, ummm if you want I could get you a room at the hotel I'm staying in!" I propose waiting for her reaction.

"Sure, but I can pay for it don't worry about that!" She answers starting to pick up her stuff and shoving it in a suitcase.

"No, don't worry about it," I cut her off before she answers "management is paying for it anyway." I shrug.

Before she leaves she sends a quick text to the friend she was staying with, Jen I think. We get in the car and I drive to our 5 star hotel. Her eyes widen and jaw drops.

"Woaaaaah!" She whispers to herself, but I can hear it. I walk over to the lobby.

"Here go to my room," I order handing her the key "while I book you one." She nods and walks away.

Andreas P.O.V

I got into the elevator, and patiently wait for the floor Luke's room is in. When the elevator finally stops, I look for the room 297. When I find the room, I swipe the card in the doorknob, and I enter. I put my suitcase down. and there's another door, that room has a bed in it. As I find what I find, I feel sadness and anger building up in body. Memories start crashing into my brain. It's little things like this that trigger memories. I find a girl wrapped around the bed sheets naked (I assume) , under those sheets sleeping there. It's not like I'm dating Luke, but he still asked me on a date. I get out of the room, with my suitcase and wait for Luke. When I see him coming our of the elevator he looks confused.

"Why didn't you go into the room" he asks with a confused look on his face.

"I did, I just didn't like what I found there." I reply coldly. He hands me the key in confusion and I walk to my room quickly. 15 minutes later I get a call from the room 297. I roll my eyes and answer the phone.

"What?" I ask impatiently

"I swear this girl is here from before I asked you out on a date, I was just really confused about you coming back so ya know.." He says and I roll my eyes.

"So you don't just insert your self into a person when you are feeling confused Luke," I shout into the phone "look I'll talk to you tomorrow." And with that I hang up. He can't just go do it with a girl, even if she was willing. I know it's not that big of a deal but I have my reasons to be mad. I wasn't completely mad at him, but mad at myself for letting the memories of what they had done to me flood into my brain. They had to some what make money, the experimenters. So they sold us girls, to men.
