Faded Dreams

Yesterday, so many years ago
I had a song of dreams, I wanted you to know
So many blissful dreams, so many things I'd planned
Were thrown to the wind by a reckless, foolish hand.

But the dreams, they never died, they were very real
They filled my days with hope, my nights with restless zeal
And if this life be kind, then perhaps we'd have a chance
At a time so far away when we would finally dance

I placed myself at ease, I allowed the dreams to grow
And with wild imaginings, I allowed my mind to flow
To any place with you, I really didn't care
My dreams were for us both, so long as you were near

Oh where do I begin, these dreams for you to see
They're bolder than our love, they're older than the sea
But they give an honest truth to this dream filled world of mine
That my stubborn heart had clutched, through the passages of time

But fleeting is our time, my dear how will you see
The dreams I planned so long ago, dreams for you and me
The winds of change are closing in, the dreams are fading now
But in the time that we have left, to you I leave this vow

No matter what your life may bring, the winds they carry true
Each dream of mine upon your fate, Is what I give to you
So do waste your time on tears, I cannot wipe them dry
Just smile for me and sing my song of dreams as they pass by.

Yesterday, so many years ago
You left a mark upon my soul, and there our love did grow
Take my heart and hold it close, with you to rest a while
While my eyes forever hold, the memory of your smile.
