Chase's POV:

The whole tribe piles into the meeting house. People sit on benches, but some have to sit on the floor. There's a large space left at the front of the room for my father to stand there and talk, and there's an aisle that runs down the middle of the room. My father, Quin Johnson, comes in through the front doors and begins making his way to the front of the room. Everything falls to a hush.

"Hello Wildern Heights Tribe," he greets everyone as he stands in front of them. My heart is pounding in my chest. Today would decide everything. It had been so sudden when Abbs had said she wanted to let everyone know, but I think she wanted to let them know before she mated with Matt--plus a lot of suspicions had been growing since the funeral. I steal a glance over at him, and he seems to be doing this nervous tapping thing. It makes me smile and relax a bit.

I know that Matt cares for my sister, he just has some control issues when it comes to battling alpha sides. I understand. During those few weeks that Abbigail had left and I become alpha before Matt came along, it was hell. And I mean this literally. Anyone who got on my bad side was subject to my bad mood. I had the urge to rip Hunter's head off once, but I didn't--sadly enough....

"Today we have some pressing issues," my father says. Everyone immediately give him their undivided attention. "Concerning my daughter, Abbigail Johnson."

If he didn't have everyone's attention before, he did now. And that's when the front doors open. In struts a white wolf, glowing with gold ember-like fur. Everyone gasps and stares. The wolf walks up to my father, and he smiles, nodding his head at it as it passes him. The wolf disappears around my father to go around the corner into a small hallway--probably to change back. The room suddenly becomes a blur of noises.

"Was that Abbigail?"

"She looks so different."

"Is she going to challenge Matt?"

"Ohhhhh, what's Matt going to do?"

My father holds up a hand to silence everyone, and out steps Abbigail in white jean shorts and a black v-neck with a leather jacket. No one seems to notice her at first, and so Matt starts to make his way up to the front. My father turns towards Abbigail, and yet again, no one seems to recognize her--but then again, she had changed.

"This is my daughter," my father holds out a hand towards Abbs, and everyone falls silent. "Abbigail Johnson."

Abbs walks forwards into better view of the tribe as thy nod their heads in collective gasps. Abbs steps forward to stand beside Matt, and my father leaves the front of the room to let her talk.

"I know many of you must be mad at me," she begins. "I am truly sorry. I never meant to hurt any of you. What I did, I did to protect you."

No one says a word. In the spaces between what Abbs says, you could hear the water rushing in the nearby stream outside.

"I left under the encouragement of Mesenah, my prophet, in order to keep my pack and tribe safe from the Dark Mountain pack." I see Abbs' eyes flicker to Lylia who stands not too far away.

I hear some whispers, but it's mostly just about Mesenah.

"I left with the hope that you all would live." She steps forward to the middle of the room and closes her eyes. I suddenly feel a prick in my head like a pull or something. I frown and close my eyes. Others seem to be having this reaction too. And suddenly I see Mesenah...like in a memory. I hear her talking to...me? Or was it Abbs? It was one of Abbs memories from before the attack. Mesenah gave the warning to Abbigail, and then told her that she had to leave.
