'Maybe having four cups of coffee is a bad idea. ' You say to yourself, you thought that making ideas for your music in a relaxing café is a good idea, well it is for the most part but ordering more than one cup of coffee is the worst thing you did.
You were anxiously tapping your fingers on the table and occasionally fidgeting with the wire of your head phones, trying to figure out what's wrong with your music, is it the rhythm?, melody? Or the harmony?
This hobby of making music really helps you to express yourself, and a side job so you wouldn't have much student loans after college, but it can be hard sometimes to do it independently and only have a few amount of listeners.
Getting frustrated you were about to close your laptop until you saw a familiar face enter the cafe.
It was Ryan Met, you both go to Colombia university and have a few classes together since you're both taking theater, you weren't particularly close to him but you would do a little small talk with him when you see each other down the halls, in the library or in class.
You locked eye contact with him, he smiled and waved at you as he started to walk towards your table. "Oh hey. y/n, are you getting a few papers done? " Ryan asked.
"Um.. Uh.. No actually I'm already done with some, it's kinda stupid but I'm making some music and I'm probably running out of ideas. " You say being hesitant to talk about this hidden talent of yours.
Ryan giggled, realizing that he never mentioned to you that he also makes his own music with his brothers. "That's not stupid, that's actually cool. I'm just going to get some coffee and is it okay if I help you?"
He says.
"Wow really?... Sure I'm okay with that." You reply.

When Ryan got back to you with a cup of coffee in hand, you made room for him to sit as he placed his cup on the table, and noticing about three or four cups that you already finished.
"Woah i think you had too much coffee. " he says.
"Well yes but it didn't help with ideas though. " You say being a little annoyed.
"Its okay, what do you think the problem is with your music?" he asked, enthusiasm present in his voice.
"hmm.. I don't know it feels like its missing something." You say.
"Can i take a listen? " Ryan asked.
You nod, lending him your headphones.
He starts to listen to it, you were nervous considering you never saw someone listening to your own music.
Ryan started to smile, while still looking at your laptop, then his smile grew wider.
"Wow is that your vocals? " He asked looking at you for a moment and you just nod.
He turns his attention back to your laptop and says "Your voice is really nice. "
You could just feel yourself turning a bit red, sure you get compliments online but hearing that in real life is somehow different.
The song finally ended and Ryan still has a smile on his face. "Wow that was really good y/n, i think the song is already fine like that." He says.
"Really... I don't know Ryan, for me it still feels like something's missing." You say, still frustrated.
"Well okay, have you considered maybe adding a bass line or some samples. " Ryan said.
He recommended, you tried to think for a moment. "Hm... I don't think I need to add any samples but maybe a bass line and a few adjustments might help. " you say.
"Thanks for the help Ryan, I'm probably going to go record stuff at home now. " You say as you pack your stuff preparing to go home.
"You're welcome y/n, I'm glad I could help. " he says, "oh and tell me how your music turns out. " He says as he writes down his number on the back of a receipt.
"okay, Thanks again. " you say as you wave goodbye.

After a couple of hours you finally finished your song, you start to upload it on streaming apps and tried to call Ryan.
"Hello? " He says on the phone.
"Hey Ryan it's y/n." You said.
"Oh hey y/n what's up? " He says.
"I finally got to finish the song, and it's already uploaded. " You say to him.
"Oh wow really, you're quick, wait let me just get my laptop so i can listen to it. " He says, sounding like he's rummaging through his stuff. "Wow this is actually better than what you showed me earlier. " He says.
You laugh a bit cause of him sounding so enthusiastic. "Thank you, honestly it's because of your help. " You say.
"Well you're welcome, if you need help I'll be here to give you some more advice. " He says.
"I owe you one for the help. " You say.
"Oh really? " he says.
"Yep, I can probably help you in one of our classes or something like that. " You say thinking of ways on how to return the favor.
"Well actually I have something else in mind." He said.
"Oh what is it?" You ask him.
"Maybe we could go out and get some coffee sometime when you're free?" He says, hoping you would agree.
"That'll be nice Ryan." you say, a smile forming in your face.
"Oh I need to go now y/n, nice talking to you again. " Ryan said in a very happy tone.
"oh okay, bye." You say.
"Bye, can't wait for coffee with you. " He says ending the call.
