Jean's mind had drawn blank. She was frozen in place. She couldn't comprehend anything.

She willed her legs to go the only place she could. Forward. Her feet making a light tapping noise against the concrete as they made contact.

Hesitantly, she looked back. Whatever it was, was still chasing her, closing the gap between them bit by bit. Its claws extracted and reached for her, barely missing.

A strained whimper left her lips as she stumbled on her own feet. She rushed down the corridor and made a right when she reached the end of the hallway.

Her heart was pacing at an almost inhuman speed. The hallway seemed to narrow, suffocating her even more.

I can't run any farther.

She had slowed down and could barely keep her own weight up.

The deadly whirling of spinning saws got closer. Biting her lip was the only thing that kept her from screaming.

What'd the point be? No one would hear her. Even if they did, who'd throw themselves between her and that to save her?

Jean shrunk against the wall. Tears had been running down her face.

Maybe it won't see me. Right?

Bones aching. A sharp pain in her chest every time she breathed. Her auburn hair was matted down with sweat.

The sound of machinery was deafening, the light blinding.

She snapped her eyes shut and waited for the painful impact.

It came in a matter of seconds. The sharp warm ache spread from her stomach through her whole body. Her body quivered before collapsing.

A scream ripped from her throat and echoed through the walls of the . All she saw the creature retreat down the corridor and around the corridor before everything went black.
