Friends Before Foes

Chapter one: School

My name is Jake Mullings, I've been with my girlfriend lily for about four years now. We go to the same college, east pines they call it. A fairly nice place, secluded somewhere in Amsterdam. I was torn from my thoughts as I heard my mother's voice from downstairs, even though the house had three stories to it, it always amazed me how noise travelled so easily throughout it. "Breakfast Jake!" I heard her call.
Mom's breakfast was nothing to be missed. This woman was an amazing cook. She could make ice water taste like liquid gold if you get what I mean. As my foot landed on the last step of the stairway I distinctly to heard the beeping of a car horn. A grin creeped across my face as I already knew who it was. Kissing mom's cheek I quickly grabbed the plate and headed out. "Be sure to bring back my plate." She playfully warned. Waving a wet spatula my way. "Yess mommm." I rolled my eyes, turning to head out I almost hit into the door. I immediately broke into a shirt run knowing how impatient my friends are, especially on mornings like these.
Hoping in the back my lips were immediately greeted by a pair of soft ones. Lily. As I kissed her back I noticed will and Emily giving each other lustful looks as they too began kissing. Snapping my fingers I broke their attention from each other. "Hey hey none of that right now. I thought we were in a hurry." I laughed. "Alright! Man you're such a dick!" I heard will hiss as he drove off. Emily sending him pouty looks occasionally. The school was half an hour away from my house but after stopping for gas today's ride took about an hour at most. Upon arrival, we immediately separated as we rushed to our classes. As I'm speed walking as fast as my legs could take me I bump into someone, sending my notes flying out of my stupid binder. I silently cursed myself as I bent down to pick them up, scolding myself because I should have dealt with the binder at my locker. "Lemmie help." I heard a voice say as someone else knelt beside me to help gather the rest of run away papers. "Thanks." I said as I stood and took the papers from the said stranger. I blinked twice as I immediately realized it was a girl I saw earlier at the gas station. "Uh. Hi." I smiled sheepishly. "Who would have thought we'd see each other again like this?" I laughed. Momentarily forgetting that I was late for class. "Ha-ha I know right?" She laughed. It was nice. "Fate is funny isn’t it.." she mused as she turned away. "Try not to bump into anyone again this time. They might not be as helpful as I am." She teased as she walked away. "Uh..yeah..see you around." I replied. Completely dazed. As the second bell went reality came back to me and I remembered I was late. "SHIIIIIIT." I hissed as I made my way to history class.

After class I meet up with Lily who was waiting for me at the door. After kissing her we began to walk to the cafeteria to meet with will and Emily as usual. Only this time, as we approached our usual seat we both noticed a new face. "Hey lily, Jake. Meet Megan." Will smiled. "She’s new here." "No duh." I snorted. "We met this morning....sort of." Megan and I both laughed a bit at our personal joke. Lily shifted uncomfortably in her seat and cleared her throat. “So There’s this party going down this weekend, we should all go” she asked as she opened a small carton of strawberry milk. “I got homework." will pouted. “awe come om babe." Emily pleaded as she entwined her arm with his. “yeah, come on will. That never stopped you before. What's with the lame ass excuse this time?" I snorted. ok ok I’ll go." Will sarcastically sighed as we all laughed and began to discuss previous parties as we ate for the rest of lunch. as we all laughed. Getting ready to go to our other classes to goof off more, I over hear Megan running up to Lily behind me “hey, so that’s your boyfriend, He’s cute!” “ thanks” Lily replied walking away to her class. I look up at the clock waiting for it to be the weekend for the party dozing off, *bell rings* as I dart out finding Emily. Lily and Will “lets get out of this hell hole” I exclaimed, when we arrive back at mine I kiss Lily goodbye “love you” she says “see you at the party” Will said speeding off. I go inside all tired out “how was school” my step mom Heather asked “it was fine” running upstairs to rest up, I hear walking up the stairs *knocks* as my mom walks in and sits down “I know im not your mom but im here okay?” “ I know, can I go to a party this weekend?” I asked “sure, I’ll be at work” as she’s walking out the room shutting my door sighing of being afraid she’d say no, calling everyone telling them I can go. The next morning when I get picked up I see Megan in the car this time “hey you” as I killed Lily, “yeah, hey you” Megan said chucking and smiling at me while we drive off arriving at our destination once again, “see you guys later” I said hugging Lily “bye babe” she says, Lily and Megan walking together I feel that something is very off about her but not quite sure so I let it go while I finish my classes “can I use the restroom” asking my teacher *nods yes* walking out the room I see Megan as she’s motioning be to come where she’s at below the staircase “yeah? Something wrong?” I asked than she pulls me close and kisses me “what the hell are you doing?!?!” Pushing her off going back to class cant get the image out of my head, bell rings once again getting in the car not saying a word to Anyone, This time we dropped of everyone so It was only me and will, we get to my house and we stop for a few as he looks at me “ so what’s up?” he asked “nothing what about you” I said knowing what he meant. He looks at me “ why were you quiet” asking me again “Megan kisses me, I’ll tell lily” I said while telling him to not say anything getting out of the car “see you later still” he says driving off. I walk inside to the table as Heather is making dinner “can I tell you something” asking her “off course, sweetie” she replied telling her what happened “what should I do? I don’t want to start anything” I said, “ id say tell Lily but that’s me” she says. I get up to go to my room to get ready for college to be over with forever same with this party. *door bell rings* “oh hi Lily” I hear from downstairs, “shit” forgetting she was coming over before the party to study coming up “hey babe” she said as she sees me hugging me, “you ready” I asked while we study, We see it getting dark so we head downstairs to leave “you guys want to eat first?” Asking heather “we’re good mom we’ll eat there” knowingly that’s a lie “yeah, we’re ok thank you Heather” replied lily walking out the door getting picked up arriving at the party.  Walking up to see our friends waiting, we walk inside to mingle “hey” said Lily to Megan “lets go drink!?” She yelled already drunk while Lily agreed, I go out to the pool to smoke and chilling, “what are you up to?” A stranger voice behind me looking up to see Megan “shit” muttering under my breathe as she’s coming into the pool next to me touching my leg “I have to go” getting out looking back at her as she’s blowing me a kiss. After a half hour I find Lily almost falling over “hey lets take you home” I said “NO” drinking more trying to take her drink away *drinks spills all over her* “look what you did!?? LEAVE” slurring her words, I start walking out the door “hey where are you going, come with me” as Megan pulls me upstairs to a room. We sit and talk about what happened than she gets on top as im about to talk she puts her finger over my mouth “shhh” she said kissing me both drunk as I kiss her making love to her. The next morning I wake up with twenty missed calls waking up in Megan’s bed “shit did we?” Asking, “yeah but out secret” she replied as im rushing to get my clothes on calling Lily “hey sorry I asleep” I told her. “im sorry about late-night” she says, telling her I don’t remember what happened last night. “I’ll see you tomorrow love you” I say and hang up so I can think about if it happened or not passing out from the hang over.
