The girl was beautiful and kind.
She loved me like no one else would.
Her mother's friend I was before,
before she became still and cold.
She was young when we were introduced.
She didn't understand what was going on.
So then I hugged her,
arms around her neck.
I whispered,
"I'll keep your memory switch on."And so I wouldn't let her forget,
As the years go on and on.
She decides to keep me around.
I follow her everywhere she went,
All day, all night, so long.Until that day,
My best friend was in bed.
I still remember the little boy's smile.
I clasp my hands around his neck
And give him a reassuring smile.I look back to my friend.
The mother of the child.
I beg and plead
But it's no use.
She is gone.
She is not coming back.Oh, my friends are all dead and cold.
They were related to one another.
Now there is no one for me.
No one who will take me somewhere other.
There's one question I always ask:
What's a locket without an owner?
