“You’re going on a WHAT?!”
“A meeting with someone at a restaurant to discuss work,” I told to everyone. Living on Chase property for the past several days did not disappoint. Landon and Hudson always seemed to be at the guesthouse, jokingly dubbed “The Lodge” by Clark, and they would drag Aiden along. It had become somewhat routine for the six of us to eat dinner together. Tonight was no exception, and we were seated at the large square dining table to eat Chinese takeout. We were eating dinner yet they were already planning to eat at some steakhouse when the weekend rolled by.
Unfortunately, I had to tell them of my plans. Brody insisted that we had to meet outside of work to discuss the finer details of the show. I really didn’t want to agree to go, but I did want the show to be a success.
It’s not a date!
“It’s a date,” Clark confirmed beside me. I scowled and poked him with a chopstick. “You’re too young to date,” Clark chided and I rolled my eyes.
“Who knew we’d see the day when Shay has the potential to NOT end up as an old maid,” Camille snickered.
“You’d be the old lady who’d terrorize the other retirement home residents,” Landon said, smirking at me from his seat diagonal from mine.
“Shay would probably whack boy scouts with her cane when they tried to help her across the street,” Hudson guffawed from across Landon.
“She’d be the cranky old woman who never found love,” Aiden joined in as everyone laughed along.
As they continued to howl, Clark choking on his chow mein because of it, I narrowed my eyes at Aiden from across the table before I just watched them all with a dull look. “Y’all should be comedians. Seriously, I’m getting abs here,” I deadpanned.
“Baby girl, we’re too sophisticated for that,” Landon teased, giving me a wink.
Camille scoffed from the seat next to him. “Says the guy who ate a pizza slice off the floor the other day,” she laughed.
“Five second rule!” Landon protested.
“Clark dropped it twenty minutes before you came and never picked it up,” she said, directing her annoyed look to Clark on the other side of her. “You Chases aren’t as great as you make everyone believe you to be.”
“Yet you still love us all anyways,” Landon sang, grinning at her, discreetly winking. Camille’s pale face reddened and I raised my eyebrows at her flared up face.
Camille never blushes.
It’s true. One time, Jenna Mendoza grabbed Camille and ripped Camille’s shirt down the middle, tearing a V halfway to her bellybutton. As Jenna and her clones laughed and taunted her, she didn’t even get embarrassed then. Camille just gave them an annoyed look and proceeded with her day, still working the ripped shirt like a newfound fashion trend. And the boys were just fine with that.
I squinted at Camille and Landon. This was interesting.
“Hey! Back to Shay,” Clark said loudly as he tried to divert the table’s attention back to me. “So,” he said, his eyebrows doing the worm dance, “who’s it with?”
