Then and Now

Something real

Right now had to be the worst day of my life, literally. I mean first Eric's still not talking to me and its been what like a week already? Then I dropped my lunch tray all over me and did I mention I was wearing an all white shirt? Then the worst worst thing happened, I have to go to a party tonight  with my cousins. My sister Sarah was away with her friends trying to find colleges they would be back by saturday and it thursday. My parents were on some bussiness trip with co workers and would be back the same day.

"Are you done yet?" I asked my cousin kayla who was straighting my hair instead of letting me go to the party with my natural beach curls. "Yep I'm done." Without letting me respond, she turned me around and I was stunned. My makeup was a blue and purple eye shadow matching my purple and blue dress . Yes dress,  I sort of turned into a girly girl now that my cousins we're here, weird right? Or maybe it was because of Eric? " "Thanks now lets go don't want to be late!" kayla said rushing me. "Okay okay, where is Jake? " I asked. "Hes going out with his girlfriend tonight. " she responded. "Girlfriend?, he has a girlfriend? " I asked. "Yeah, they been dating for a year tonight's their 1 year anniversary he    didn't tell you ?, you guys tell each other everything." she said confused. "No." I said. "Ill have to talk to him later." "Yep lets go!" she said as we went downstairs. "You gals ready?" my other cousin amber asked with frankly to short shorts on.  "Yeah lets go!" Kayla said or more like screamed... With that we were off.

The smell of smoke and beer filled my nose as we entered the mansion- sized house. "Hey Mike!" amber yelled as she ran of to her group of friends." I'm gonna go find the restroom ill be right back." kayla yelled over the way to loud music. All I did was nod. "Great so now I'm all alone and I just got here." I said to myself. That is until I saw a all to familiar face. Eric. He was at the bar drinking what  looked like water. Instead of just looking at him like a creep I did what any sane person what do who wouldn't want to be seen by their friend, I went to the back yard where I saw a hammock. I made sure it was stable so I wouldnt fall, hello I have a dress on people! I sat down and let the cool breeze take over me that is until someone disturbed my silent peace. Eric. Out of all the people it had to be him. "Hey. he smiled, Can I sit?" "Yeah sure ." I said calmly.

  "Jessica I'm so sorry for ignoring you this past week, ive just been so confused and unnstable. " he said sadly. "I didn't mean any of it I didn't mean to kiss you, to ignore you, any of it, the kiss didn't even mean anything to me, will you please forgive me?" he asked sadly.
The kiss didnt even mean anything to him.... I bit my lip. Wow.

Should or could I forgive him this easily after all of this?, I mean what if he did it again tommorow? I asked myself.  "Eric I know you mean well but what if you do it again, what do I do then?" I asked him. "It wont I promise ."  he said holding out his pinky finger towards me. "Fine I forgive you." I said grabbing his pinky finger in mine smiling. "Great. " he said looking in my eyes deeply. I smiled as I felt my cheeks get hot and Eric laughed. "Ya know you really are something." he said letting go of my pinky finger laying back in the hammock. I smiled and thought things weren't perfect but they were okay, and for right now that was good enough. But later on I know in my heart that I would want something real.
