Chapter Five - Egg Fleet

Meanwhile, way up high above the clouds, flew a fleet of five massive airships. On each of these air ships was Eggman's personal logo. Each of the ships had fifty robots all in line, Having 250 of them in total. The largest airship flew in the front, where a large man sat in the control room and laughed evily like a mad Santa Claus.

A small robot, ranging less than two feet tall hovered over to the man, " All robots are in position, Doctor Eggman. " He saluted.

" Good. " Eggman said, looking ahead at the open sky as he rubbed part of his mustache between his fingers. " Do all of them have the DNA programmed into them? "

" All ready and prepared, Doctor. " The robot answered.

" Excellent! " Eggman typed something on the control panel before him and a screen came up on the window. On the screen popped-up the blueprints of his robots' design. "Oh, it's a work of genius, isn't it Orbot? "he said to the little robot.
" Yes it is. One of your greatest plans yet sir. " Orbot nodded.

The robots were built out of the toughest steal, and upgraded with multiple guns, retractable razor arms, and fast reflexes.

" During my last encounter with Sonic, I was able to pick up his DNA. Now all my robots here will have a touch of Sonic's DNA in them and will be drawn to him like a beacon!"He cackled again. " It's full proof! There is no way Sonic can defeat every last one of these robots without one of them getting the job done. Finally then, I can start turning Mobius into my own personal playground."

" Think again, Egghead! " A voice came in on the intercom. Oh no! Eggman closed the blueprints and looked at the open sky. He saw a small plane flying towards his fleet with a familiar blue hedgehog standing on the right wing.

" What! But my trackers say you're still down in Motropolis!" Eggman screamed in aggrivation. " No matter, we'll end this now. Robots.." He lifted a small cover to his right, which there laid a red button and Eggman slammed his fist on it. "ATTACK!"

All the robots lifted their heads up simultaneously and turned on with glowing purple eyes. They all stared up and scanned the sky and there eyes flashed red. Target sited. Some of the robots' feet turned into rockets, and they shot into the sky towards Sonic. Others shot missiles from where they stood.

Sonic took no precautions and jumped off the wing towards the hoard of robots. One robot's hand turned into a gun and tried shooting, but Sonic grabbed it's arm, swung it around then down into another robot, making them both blow up. He did this manoeuvre a few more times before landing on the large airship. He eyed the robots with a grin as he ran at high speed, avoiding shots and misleading the robots into shooting each other.

Tails, piloting the plane, attacked from the skies. He flipped a switch and seeker missiles shot out of the wings and destroyed some of the robots flying from the other ships as they tried their ways to Sonic.

Sonic was surrounded as more robots came before him. He had one in front and one behind him swinging their razor arms at him in hast. Sonic dodged their attacks just before contact, as well a dodging gunshots from the others.

Both robots raised their arms up, and Sonic slid out of the way as they both stabbed each other and short circuited. Sonic didn't notice before, but one of the robots landed a slice on his arm, but he continued dodging the robots playfully.

Eggman watched in horror. His plan was failing. " No! No! NO!" Eggman growled.

Suddenly, the blue hedgehog was standing right in front of the glass window before him. " Give up yet, Eggman?" Sonic said with a smile on his face.

Eggman frowned, but spotted one of his robots coming towards them, and he hid a grin. " I don't suppose we can have a truce? "

" Why? Did I ruin too many of your toys that you finally wanna give up? "

Tails circled around just above and saw the robot heading Sonic's way. " Sonic! Behind you!" He yelled.

Sonic looked behind him as a robot with it's razor arms extended forward shot towards him. Eggman ducked, and the robot shot through the window with a crash.

" Yes!" Eggman yelled. " I've finally done it! "

" Aww, so close."
Eggman looked and saw Sonic standing just at the side of the now broken window. He was unharmed and smiled. " -yet so far. Sorry Eggman! Better luck next time!" And with that, Sonic fled.

Eggman looked over at the robot that had flew inside. Its razor arms stabbed into the back wall, each arm stuck in a steam pipe or gas pipe. Eggman watched as the robot tried pulling his arm free with a loud, high-pitched screech. Sparks forming as he pulled his arm out of the steam pipe. Now the robot started to pull out his other arm. Eggman's eyes widened as he panicked and jumped out of the broken window. Not a second later did the whole control room blow up with a loud bang. The airship's engines started to fail, and soon those blew up as well, and since the one airship flew so close to the others, it created a booming chain reaction. All the airships started blowing up and destroying all the robots in it's process.

Sonic still stood on the airship, anxiously looking for Tails.

" Sonic! Hop on!" He heard Tails yell. Sonic looked around and saw that Tails was flying beside the airship, waiting for him. Sonic ran, and with a flying leap, landed on the plane's wing.

" I'll get you for this, hedgehog! You'll see! " Eggman yelled from above. Sonic and Tails looked up and saw Eggman was getting away in his round hover-chair.

" Let's go after him!" Sonic yelled to Tails and pointed upward.

" No Sonic! " Tails said, looking at a small screen in his plane showing a map. " We gotta go evacuate the city below before the fleet crushes it!"

Sonic furrowed his eyebrows and clenched his fists. Eggman got away yet again. He turned to Tails and nodded. The plane turned away and started flying downward towards the city.

A lone robot flew out of one of the airships, short-circuiting and twitching. Yet it still managed to work. The robot looked around and scanned the area, then looked down. His eyes turned red. Target sited.
