I do not know why I struck the match,
Bringing life to the flame
That engulfed us in a ring of fire.
It lasted an eternal hour,
Blistering our skin,
And our fears fueling the life force
Denaturing bonding cells.
And in the end all that remained
Was deceitful smoke signals
Covering my shame
That I do know why I lit the fire
And it is because,
I cannot trust you.
