Several weeks after Steve and Wither's visit to Lily's home the two boys were given permission to go into the woods. They only allowed them to go due to Brian being a few years older than Steve. The two boys were given a special mission to gather apples so Brain's mother could make apple pies for them. Lily had said 'Fresh apples are always best!' The trip was like some kind of fun adventure for them so they wholeheartedly ventured out into the woods.

Just before the two boys left though they were bother warned by Wither not to go to far from the village since they were still just little ones. They both agreed and headed out on their adventure to find apples. Both brunette boys were giggling up a storm as the entered the bright forest.

They searched for well over an hour and their search was utterly fruitless. Though this didn't deter the two boys in the slightest. They searched on making a game of it. The first person to find an apple tree would get the first slice of the pie. As Brian was looking into the trees above them the older boy didn't notice the smaller boy start to wonder off. Steve was dead set on finding the apple tree first.

While the younger boy scampered about the forest he didn't look where he was going and became tripped up by a tree. Steve fell with a loud yelp and landed face first into the grass. The whole fall wasn't painful though, in Steve's midsection was something fluffy and warm. The young boy sat up on his heels and stared down in horror. What had been under him was a puppy. A small gray wolf pup that had been resting under the trees shade.

Steve's already teary eyes started to stream with the salty liquid. The young boy pressed a tanned hand into the puppy's soft fur. He gave the little creature a soft push mumbling in a broken voice.

"Puppy??"

The pup didn't respond to the broken voice of Steve nor the pushes into its fur. Through watering eyes he stared at the crushed pup in front of him. Steve choked on tiny sob that got caught in his throat when dark growls rolled into the air. On shaking legs Steve stood up and trembled as he turned to the wolves. Their eyes angry and hate filled. Purple, tear filled, eyes widen in fear and panic. Steve pressed into the tree preparing for pain as the wolves lunged at him. He squeezed his eyes shut and stood rigged against the tree.

Brian absentmindedly starred up into the trees trying to find any apple trees. He was really hoping to find it first, his mothers apple was some of the best. A huge grin crawled over his face as his dark eyes landed on bright red apples high up.

"Looks like I win--," Brian turned to find that Steve wasn't there behind him anymore, "Steve??"

Brian's brow furrowed and he started back the way he had come. He called the younger boys name again and again. The black eyed boy no response to his calls though and a large spike of dread filled him. He was put in charge of the younger boy and he had lost him. He searched frantically for the younger boy his heart about pounding out of his chest. The loud sound of wolves snarling filled the warm air. His dreadful feeling slammed into him harsher as he raced towards the sound. Brian prayed to notch that Steve was not on the receiving end of those snarls. Along his way to the snarling Brian picked up a large stick just encase Steve really was there.

His inky eyes widen and his breath left him. There was a group of six wolves stalking closer and closer to the cowering Steve. A large spike of adrenaline slammed into him and he raced forwards as one of the wolves lunged at the other boy. Brian skitter in front of his friend, with as much force as he could muster he slammed the wolf in the face with the large stick. The wolf landed harshly on the ground it's head dented from the hard swing and small pointed branches on the stick.

Brian huffed heavily, his form shaking from all of the adrenaline swimming in his veins. His black eyes had a deadly glint to them as he glared at the remaining five wolves. His grip on his stick grew tighter as another wolf lunged, the others circling them.

"Keep your eyes closed, Steve," Brian huffed.

The horrid sound of flesh being pierced filled the air. The wolf howling in agony, its chest pierced by the large stick. Brian had angled the stick just so and the wolf impaled itself on the large piece of wood. Brian drop the stick to the side and let the body slip off the fur and blood cover point. Black met yellow as two more wolves raced towards the two boys. Brain was ready, his stick clenched tightly. One of the large gray wolves lunged at Brian, the boy side stepping quickly. The other beast leaping at him as well. The boy slammed the stick harshly into it's skull, loud crackles sounded as he did so.

The other wolf was quick to turn back to Brian and lung at him as well. The black eyed boy turned just in time to block the creatures teeth from get at him. Both Brian and the wolf landed on the ground. The wolf grinding it sharp teeth into the large stick, its deep yellow eyes glaring into Brian's black ones. Brian snarled and quickly flicked the stick to the side flipping the two of them. With the wolf now pinned Brian quickly slammed the stick into the beasts throat. The wolf gave out one last gurgled whimper before it stopped moving all together.

Brian stood with shaking legs, his eyes trailing to the last wolf. Its yellow eyes stared that the young boy in utter horror. The wolf tucked its tail under itself and booked it out of there. The ink eyed boys body relaxed and he let out a breath as he stumbled over to his friend. Steve still stood against the tree, his body shaking in fear.

Brian placed one of his hands on Steve's shoulder, "H-Hey, are you okay, Steve??" The older's voice shook.

Steve flinched at the soft touch to his shoulder, his brows furrowing together tighter. His shoulder tensed up making himself smaller. Though once Brian's voice filled his ears he opened his watery eyes. With shaking movement he looked up to the older boy.

"Y-You killed them..." His voice broke.

Brian sadly nodded his head, "I'm sorry, Steve, if I hadn't they would have hurt you. Can you walk?"

Steve leaned away from the tree and tested if he could walk with his frozen legs. Though as he tried to take a step he crumbled. Brian caught the other boy and gave him a reassuring smile.

"You can lean against me while we walk."

Steve smiled back shakily, "Brian,"

The other boy hummed in reply.

"Thank you." Steve leaned against his friend as they walked.

"No problem. Let's grab those apples and head back. Mom's apple pie should cheer you right up." Brian grinned.

Steve gasped, "You found an apple tree?!"

Brian chuckled and nodded, "I'll grab some and I'll let you have the first piece!"
