Steve gave a soft sigh as he started out the door of the church. The young males heart was heavy and his brow was raised in worry. He hadn't even realized that it was time for Brian to leave already. Brian's 15th birthday had slammed into them before they knew it. The two males had been running around and being total goofs for the last several years. They had so much fun they never thought about the time when Brian would have to leave for the Crystal city. Until the day finally came and they'd have to say goodbye for the next three years.
Just at the forest edge stood Brian and Wither the both of them saddling up their horses in silence. Steve could see Lily making her way over to them with a backpack in her hands and a gentle smile on her lips. Steve stood still where he was his brow furrowed deeper as he clenched his fists. The horrible dread that was filling his chest gripped his heart and made him feel cold. His purple eyes stared at the ground before he steeled his body and started back over to the small group.
"Thanks mom," Brian smiled sweetly at his mother though his black eyes didn't convey his soft smile.
Lily hummed gently at him and gave his arm a soft pat before she stepped back. His eyes looking to Steve as he stiffly made his way over to them. She didn't say a word but you could just see the words as she stared at the small brunette male. Lily was encouraging him and comforting him with the same look.
Steve looked into her eyes for a few seconds before he turned to Brian with a wary and shriveled smile. Though his brow was still furrowed worriedly. Brian huffed and shook his head, he placed down his bag quickly, before he poked the shorter male right between his brows. Steve yipped and blinked at the other male confused.
"Steve, you know i hate it when you smile like that. Just act how you feel," Brian huffed again and shook his head, "I mean really, I would have thought you'd be all over me whining and crying for me not to go." He chuckled with a smirk.
Steve huffed out his cheeks, a soft pink hue dusted the rounded tanned cheeks. "I know that you have to go so I'll not try and stop you...." He mumbled low, but loud enough for their small group to hear what he had to say.
Brian chuckled and gave his best friend a soft smile that just barely reached his inky black eyes. He took one step forward and pull the younger male into a hug. The tanned boy was just too short to reach his shoulder so his face was smashed into Brian's collarbone. His flushed face feeling hotter in the confined space, though Steve didn't care as he wrapped his around the taller boy tightly. His could feel his throat constricting and his eyes started to burn harshly.
Brian's chin sat on his friend's head, the others brown hair tickled the sides of his face. He had a smile on his face but it disappeared as he felt the other start to shake. Steve never made a noise but he was really crying, his tears burning down his face and they clung to the cloth of Brian's shirt. The black eyed boy gripped his friend tightly and buried his nose in his brown hair. The older male could feel his eyes begin to tear up terribly at the others trembling.
Wither cleared his throat and the two boys jolted but didn't remove themselves from one another. The old church owner sighed and shook his head with furrowed brows. Steve and Brian slowly let one another go with much hesitates. Once they were separated from one another Steve started rubbing at his face harshly in frustration. Brian smiled before he cupped the others face with both of his hands and gently slapped his face with both of them.
"I'll be back in no time, Steve, I promise." He chuckled.
Steve huffed out of his nose and stared at the ground as Brian removed his hands from the others face. Though he was slightly flushed from crying he nodded his head and scrubbed his face again as he felt more tears filled his eyes.
"Alright.... I--- We'll--see you all a-again soon."
Brian chuckled with a smile and ruffled his hair happily. He turned back to his horse, he leaned down and picked up his backpack. He smiled at Steve once more before he climbed onto his brown horse. Wither did the same, he said his goodbyes as they started on their way.
With blurry eyes Steve watched the two males make their way into the woods till they finally disappeared. Though the purple eyed boy didn't move from his spot, his body giving a soft shake as he held in the whimpers in his throat. He bowed his head and clenched his fists as he tried to keep the rest of his tears in. Though as he thought they just kept coming and he started rubbing at his eyes again. The small males head was starting to hurt from all the crying and withheld whimpers.
Steve almost jumped out of his skin when Lily pat him on his back. His purple eyes turned to look at her and she was smiling sweetly at him. Her eyes turned up a bit from her smile. Her soft eyes were misty, but joy was there.
"Lets go, Steve. You can stay with me for the time being, okay?"
Steve sniffed and nodded his head quickly. Lily gently lead the young brunette towards her home. She rubbed his back slowly trying to get the small male to stop crying. The walk to her home was a short and quiet one. Once the door to the small home was open Steve was speed walking to the guest room. He opened the door and shut it behind him before he collapsed into the blue sheeted bed. With a last few tears fell from his eyes before his vision went black. His eyes burned, but as he closed them the burn was soothed and his mind slipped into sleep.
