              Dear Steve,

I can't believe it's been a whole year already. It feels like yesterday when Wither and I got off the train.
I hope you and mom are doing okay still. I know it's been months since I've gotten to write up a letter to both of you. Sorry about that, been working my ass off to get those asshats to leave me alone. They finally did after I was the only one to pass the Final exam before we were given a break. Those assholes have to stay back and train till they pass the stupid thing. Haha, Karmas a bitch.

I know I ask every time but, Is everything with that school going okay? I've been worrying myself sick sometimes with thinking about it. Tell me if they are messing with you and I'll beat the crap out of them when I get back, Steve. While I'm gone you need to stick up for yourself, Okay?

Sorry the letter is so short Wither and I have some important things to do and they aren't taking letters for another few weeks after today. I'll send another in a few weeks, Stevie. We love you both, can't wait for your reply.

         Sincerely,

                    Brian

Steve smiled at the letter as he read the last sentence. Brian had been putting that at the end of every letter. Just seeing that one sentence made him happy for the rest of the day. Even the harsh people at the small school couldn't take down his happy mood when he got these letters.

Once he'd read the last sentence he put the letter away and left his room to tell Lily. Every time he'd tell Lily what the other put and give her a hug saying it was from the boys. Lily would smile and hug him, rubbing his back gently. She'd mumble a thank you in his hair as he started to remove himself. Steve grinned at her before heading back to his room to take care of the work he'd always forget to get done. The young male didn't care for the school work at all. Steve was more of the adventure type, but he did the work so Lily didn't have to lecture him again on the importance of his learning.

The small school that the village had started to build a few days after Wither and Brian had left was finally finished. The wooden building had been finished for over six months. The small school ended up bring several children from villages that weren't that far. The families would, every morning, have their children ride to their town just to go to class for seven hours a day.

At first the young brunette thought that this would be great! He thought maybe he'd finally make a few new friends so he wouldn't be so alone. Sadly he was very wrong, things just got worse. The children that had filed into the town everyday were horrible. They'd make fun and, if they weren't seen by the teachers, would beat on the young boy. Most days Steve would come back with a bruise or even a few cuts.

Over and over Lily told him that he needed to stand up to them. Even Brian would tell him in his letter to do just that. Though at his young age Steve was such a shy and skittish child. It'd take years in the forest to bring out the tough man that he's to be known for. So for the next three years the young boy would endure the names and the beatings. Though the letters kept him in a happy place when he really needed it. Steve would read the letters over and over when he was feeling down and needed a pick me up. They'd work every time, he'd go to school with such a grin it made the other students just stare.

As the first year came to a close Brian wasn't shocked to hear that he was being moved to the advanced training classes. In his old classes he was the top and he was even surpassing the best of the older students. So with great pride his teachers submitted a form for advanced placement.

Even there Brian went above and beyond what the teachers thought he would. Brian was a wild and agile fighter easily dodging, bobbing about till he had the chance to attack. Though they found that when he fought large group he'd falter and he'd soon fall under the pressure. The teachers weren't surprised when they found this out, not many people can take on large groups of people all on their own.

Almost in the blink of an eye the three years had ended. Brian and Wither were on their way home from the train station. There large brown horses breath puffed out hot and fast as they rode quickly home. Brian's face was almost split in two from the huge grin that was plastered onto his face. His black eyes were closed and his brown hair danced behind him. He took a deep breath and gave a huge sigh. Brian opened his eyes and gave a squinty eyed grin to Wither.

"We're finally home!"
