Chapter 34

I played with the kids while Rio set up the tent he had packed and Dean and Stan began to start up the BBQ while Ruby, Beth and Annie sat with drinks in their hands.

"Auntie Mimi! Look what I found!" Kenny yells from behind me.

I turn away from Danny to see Kenny running towards me with one hand on top of the other, holding something.

"Kenny! What is in your hand?" I ask nervously as he gets closer.

Knowing Kenny, it could be anything, I could only hope whatever it was, wasn't too bad.

"Look." he says as he stands in front of me.

I back up a bit as he starts to open his hand. I let out a loud scream as I see the large brown spider sitting there. My absolute worst fear. I quickly back away from him but he only begins to step closer.

"Come on Mimi He doesn't bite!" Kenny says trying to hand him over to me.

"Oh, no, no, no! You turn your butt back around and take that as far away from me as possible and kill it." I shriek in fear.

Seeing the fear in my face only made him chuckle and suddenly a devilish look came across his face. A look I knew all too well.

"Beth!" I scream for help before beginning to run from Kenney and I immediately hear his feet behind me as he begins to chase me with the creature still in his hand.

'It's only a spider, Mimi!" Kenny taunts but I only run faster.

"BETH! DEAN!" I yell as I run all around the campsite trying to get away from him.

"Kenny! Go put that thing down before you give your aunt a heart attack!" Beth yells with a scowl.

But the sound of his feet only seem to be getting closer. Before I can even think about, I immediately spot Rio by his tent with his arms crossed and a grin on his face. As soon as I'm close enough to him, I jump into his arms.

"Don't let it touch me! Please!" I beg completely wrapped around him like a koala.

"I got you mami." he says quietly with a chuckle before looking up as my bury face in his neck not wanting to see whatever happened next.

"Kenny! Enough!" I hear Dean yell and the sounds of Kenny's feet finally stop.

"Go to put it back where you got it." Beth tells him and I look up to see him walking away. I relax my breathing and jump out of Rio's arms.

"Sorry. " I murmur quietly embarrassed.

He just chuckles before wrapping one of his arms around me. I bite my lip as butterflies fill my belly. This man would be the death of me and he didn't even know it. He wants to protect me, but all he is doing is making me fall for him more and more every day.

"Alright food's ready." Stan yells.

We all go and sit around the fire, eating burgers or hot dogs or both with the kids drinking Gatorade and the boys drinking beer and the girl's coolers. Everything so far was going good but it was only the first day. Asides from Ruby, Beth and Annie being a little on edge and Dean shooting Rio some glares, everything was good, so I couldn't complain.

We continue the night after supper, making s'mores and then I sing a couple camp songs with Dean playing the guitar before it's time to get the kids to bed. I help out Beth and Dean with the girls before saying goodnight to all the kids. Once all the kids are tucked away in the tents, we continue on with our night.

"So, Rio, how long have you known Lena for?" Stan asks kindly, as we all take a large sip of our drinks.

"A few months." Rio replies and Stan smiles.

"While I hope you treat her good, she looks very happy with you." Stan says and I instantly blush.

Rio nods his head with a small smirk and I quickly slam back the last of my drink.

"Alright, I'm ready for another one, anyone else?" I ask getting up and going to the cooler.

"Me." Annie replies and I quickly grab us both another drink, passing her one before settling back down beside Rio again.

He wraps an arm around me pulling me closer to him before leaning his head down and whispering in my ear.

"Don't get too tipsy mami, you still have to contain those moans tonight." he says and I shiver in anticipation.

"I'm going to go use the ladies room, anyone else care to join?" Beth says suddenly standing up.

Ruby, Annie and me all stand up and wave the boys goodbye, before climbing into Beth's van and driving to the public bathroom just a little bit up the road. Normally we would walk but because it was dark and woody, we decided the van was a better idea. As we make our way inside, Ruby and Beth go in first, then me and Annie as there is only three stalls and one was already taken. I use my time and freshen myself up and get ready for the night.
