Chapter 2

~(Y/N)'s Pov~

"Wait—what!?" I jump a little by her voice, "I said I accidentally bumped into a tall guy with brown hair and looked kinda handsome but not my type" I then hear her squeal in my ear, I dropped everything I had in my hands just to cover my ears. Trust me, you have no idea how loud her squeals are. "Eek! You must have ran into light yagami!! Man I wish I was you right now!" I raise my eyebrow just a bit. "Who?" I heard a gasp come from my lovely friend, "Y-you don't who yagami is!? Ugh! I could just kill you right!" Man I feel like I could be friends with anyone but Elizabeth, Liz for short. I mean she's acting like it's such a big deal that I don't know who this 'yagami' is.

"(Y/N), he is like the most popular guy in school and he is super sexy! Anyone would be lucky enough to bump into him" I then pick up my stuff and start walking to my next class, the worse part was that Liz was in that class. She is probably gonna bug me about this yagami guy, "Light is also a very smart guy" I roll my eyes once again. By the time Liz was done explaining about this guy, we were already in the classroom. Both Liz and I sat down in the far back, yes she has a seat next to me cause she promised to do extra homework. Once we sat down, Liz started rambling on about this yagami guy again. "Dude I can't believe you ran into the one and only light yagami! I'm so jealous of you (y/n)!"

I roll my eyes as I get ready for my next class, "hey it's not that big of a deal, I mean I didn't even know who he was till you said something" Liz then gave me a pout. She must be gloomy cause I didn't know anything about him. "Well (y/n) it is a very big deal, I mean any girl would KILL to be in your position" I sigh out of annoyance. Finally the teacher came in but also with someone that looked all to familiar. "Hello class-" The teacher was interrupted by every girl chattering about that kid next to the teacher. I then felt someone poke me, of course it was Liz. She started to whisper to me, "(y/n)! It's light yagami, I wonder what a guy is doing in this classroom" I hold my head, "man I have a headache..."

"Everyone settle down!" Everyone stopped talking after our teacher yelled as us. "Now, we have a student transferring into this class cause of his amazing test scores. We think he deserves to be in a higher class." Did I ever mention that I'm one grade higher then Liz? I was in 12th grade while Liz was in 11th, I mean I was supposed to be in the same grade as her but I skipped a grade. The school board allowed me cause I had the highest test scores in all my classes. I'm not trying to brag or anything but I kinda feel smarter then Liz, "Please meet Light Yagami" I see 'yagami' give a nice smile and wave to the whole class. "It's nice to meet you all" I couldn't help but think about that smile.

'It's like...he's to innocent. That smile really creeps me out' That was when my pinky started to have a really sharp pain, i then groan loudly. Everyone looked over at me, but I didn't pay much attention to them. "(Y/N)? Is everything alright" I held my pinky finger hardly, I then felt Liz at my side. "Hey (y/n) whats wrong!" The pain never subsided but I did let go so that my finger could breath, that was when I saw the red thread. 'I-I totally forgot' Yea I also forgot that everyone was still staring at me with concern. "O-oh I'm fine? Sorry to make it sound like I was—in pain, I just popped my pinky is all! Go back to what you were doing" And that's what they all did, it was like they forgot about what just happened.

"Well anyway light, I would like you to sit in that empty seat in the far back" Just my luck. Yagami sits in front of me now, I looked up to find him staring at me before sitting down. I raise my eyebrow slightly, 'What the...' I sigh when I finally hear the teacher talk about the lesson for today.

~Time Skip~

I lay my head down on my desk, it was break time right now so we could do whatever we wanted till the next bell. Liz was all up in yagami's space, I was just watching them—wondering if Liz is ever gonna score with him or not. "Wow light, your so smart. I'm so lucky your in this class cause I don't think I would pass if someone else helped me out" Then she did this giggle that seemed seductive but wasn't really, "Well I'm happy that you understand" Just by him talking, it made me lift up my pinky finger. Yes it was still in pain but it wasn't hurting as much as before. 'Thread...'

"One day, you will also meet that one person you were destined to fall in love with." I look up at my mommy with a questioning look. "How will I know that I met him?" She gives me a sweet smile and grabs my pinky finger softly, "Have you ever heard of the red string of fate (y/n)?"

'Is this the thread that mom was talking about...?' It was hard to believe but maybe the story mom told was true. "Hey (y/n)? Why do you look so serious?" I look at Liz, she had a nice smile on her face. "I don't know..." Liz shrugged my seriousness off but someone was focused on it. "Hey Liz, can I talk to you after school or at lunch?" Liz looked at me and nodded. I then stand up, "Well I'll see you later" Liz gave me a questioning look. "Huh? But we still have this class-" I wave it off, "I'm just not feeling well, I'm just gonna lay down in the nurses office till the first bell. Mind telling the teacher?" She then nodded, still having a questioning look on her face. I then left the classroom.

~1 Minute Time Skip~

It didn't take long to get to the nurses office, I then knocked on the door just to hear a "Come in" from our school nurse. I walk in with a sad face, I don't even know why I was sad...or maybe I was just confused—well I'm just having mixed emotions right now. "Oh hey (y/n), is there something that you need?" I was happy that the nurse got used to the first name bases, I don't really like being called by my last name. I gave her a smile, "I just have a headache and was wondering if I could lay down in here till the first bell rings" She leads me to a bed, "I'll come get you when the first bell rings" I give her another smile, once she leaves I lay down. I then lift up my hand, it shows the red thread.

"Remember sweetie, only certain people can see your string" I give my mommy a nice smile, "Are you able to cut the string mommy?" She shakes her head. "No one should cut the thread, no one knows what could happen. Remember (y/n) if you ever get the string of fate, never cut it"

'Never cut the string...' I then try to take off the string, it wasn't tight but it was stronger then I thought. I was trying so hard to take it off my pinky but it just wouldn't come off, "damn it" RING I heard the first bell. "I guess it's time to go..." I left before the nurse could tell me to leave.
