Adelaide responded immediately. Her response was rushed, it was late and she wanted to sleep.
"I'm alright, thanks Oscar."
Oscar responded seconds later, "I don't believe you."
Adelaide decided to call him, they had called late at night before usually when they had assignments due, but Adelaide would never forget the night he called her at 2 am.

"I didn't know who else to call" he cried down the phone to her. She ran all the way to his house and when she got to him he was on his front porch crying. He couldn't deal with the pressure of his parents wanting him to be perfect anymore.

Oscar picked up.
"It's pretty late, how come your still up?" He asked.
"I was talking to Kellie"
"What were you talking about?" He said inquisitively.
"That's none of your business!" She replied sarcastically. He laughed.
"How are you feeling?"
"I don't know, I'm fine. I guess today was embarrassing but I don't care anymore" she claimed. Oscar attempted to change the conversation.
"Hey is that a Rolling Stones t-shirt!?" He was so excited that it made Adelaide laughed. They talked until 3 in the morning.

The next day, the staring had calmed down and Lachlan was out so it was drama free for the most part. Except for when Kellie caught Alaya and Mr.Harris in the woodwork room. Kellie came sprinting down the hall to Adelaide, "omg they're in the woodwork room" she whispered. Adelaide didn't know what to do.
She hesitated. "What were the doing?"
"Lord knows"

Alaya had skipped history class, Adelaide and Kellie were worried but she joined them again before English. "What happened?" Adelaide asked, almost angrily. Their conversation had turned into an interrogation. Kellie could barely look at Alaya in the eye. Alaya smirked, "he kissed me!"
"NO!" Kellie yelled in a disgusted tone.
Adelaide thought she was going to vomit.
"Do you know how wrong that is, he shouldn't be doing that! He's a teacher Alaya! Did he force you?" Adelaide asked worriedly.
"No! I wanted him too" she reassured them.
"I'm going to the principal, he's disgusting!" Kellie declared.
"If you go to the principal, I won't speak to you again I'm serious" Alaya was infuriated.
"This can't be happening" Adelaide thought. What do people do in this situation? It's wrong.
"Please Alaya, just think about this!" Adelaide pleaded.
"Adelaide, I'm 18, he's 23! He won't be my teacher at the end of the year. I really like him! He's not making me do anything, I promise. Please understand where I'm coming from"
When she put it like that it didn't seem all that bad, there was only a 5 year age gap.  But it was still wrong.

"I can't stop you, but if you get caught with him, he'll be fired, even arrested and you'll be suspended! Listen to my advice. Wait till the end of the year, until we graduate! Then you can do what you want." Adelaide comprised.
Alaya agreed and they decided to forget about the situation for now.

Adelaide started to feel the tension in between her eyes, another stress headache. She threw her hair back into a messy bun and sat down in Art class, the class just after lunch. Just as she went to get her pencils out of her bag Brodie walked in. She watched as he paused and looked around the room for a free seat. He saw Adelaide and walked over to her.
"Do you want to sit here?" She asked him, pointing to the seat beside her. He was relieved and sat down. Adelaide felt bad for Brodie, no one was making an effort to make him feel welcome and she couldn't help but feel like it was her fault.

"I didn't know you did art?" She queried.
"Oh yeh, I love art! I did it in school back in Australia." He told her.
"What's your favorite thing to draw?" Adelaide wanted to get to know him better.
"Oooo, good question" he thought about it for a second.
"I like to draw birds." He said so contently.
They both looked at each other and then burst out laughing.

Maybe this was the start of a new friendship?
