A/N: Sorry about the slow update, but summer's coming up in a few days for me so hopefully I'll be able to get chapters out quicker. I also want to say that I am a native English speaker and grew up around Spanish phrases, so if I get things wrong in any language that is not those (like Irish and Italian for example) please be aware of that and feel free to let me know so I know better next time. On to the story!!! 💕💕💕

When the four of us got back to Manhattan the newsies were settled around the statue of Horace Greeley, waiting on us to get back.

"Jack," Race said, "So, where's Spot?"

Jack huffed, "He was concerned about us being serious. You imagine that?"

Race looked thoughtfully at Jack. "Well, Jack, maybe we ought to ease off a little," he played with his cigar, "Without Spot and the others, there ain't enough of us, Jack."

The rest of the boys looked as solemn as Race did.

"Maybe we're moving too soon," Mush said shrugging his shoulders, "Maybe we ain't ready, you know?"

Skittery spoke up, looking down at his shoes. He already looked defeated, "I definitely think we should forget about it for a little while."

"Oh, do ya?" Jack said incredulously at the guys. The disbelief was written all across his face.

"Yeah." Skittery spoke softly as if he knew he was flaring Jack's temper.

"Yeah, I mean, without Brooklyn..." he trailed off for a beat then spoke again, "you know?"

Jack seemed furious at the sentiment. "Spot was right, is this just a game to you guys?"

"This can't be how you guys feel about this," I said, "Mostly because I will not allow Spot to be right about somethin'. This is important."

"Hey Crutchy," Jack said defeated.

I looked over at Davey, locking eyes with him. Cheer them up, I tried to tell him. His eyes widened as if he actually understood what I was telling him.

He walked around the statue, lifted his arms up and said, "Open the gates and seize the day. Don't be afraid and don't delay. Nothing can break us, no one can make us, give our rights away, arise and seize the day!"

That seemed to hype up the mood.

"Now is the time to seize the day," Davey chanted.

"NOW IS THE TIME TO SEIZE THE DAY!"

"Send out the call and join the fray. Wrongs will be righted if we're united."

"LET US SEIZE THE DAY! PROUD AND DEFIANT! WE'LL SLAY THE GIANT! LET US SEIZE THE DAY! ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE!"

The circulation bell rang, shaking the ground below us.

"Anybody hear that?" Jack asked us.

"No!" we all cheered.

"So what are we gonna do about it?"

"SOAK 'EM!"

A fight broke out. Most of us girls scattered, a lot of us were very good fighters but we found that our responsibilities led us to get the younger newsies to safety. The police would have not qualms to arresting kids, even they were as young as seven.

"What have we here, Oscar?" I turned and found the Delancey Brothers who were staring at me like a piece of meat. They both had bruises and blood was dripping from their faces.

"Looks like this little broad is messing with things she shouldn't."

"Strikes ain't for ladies." The boys looked at each other, identical wicked smiles on their faces.
