Chapter Ten: Chip and Dip
Flashback
"This is for you." I held out my hand which was fisted. He looked confused and he un-wrapped my hand he smiled when he saw my gift.
"For me?" He raised his eyebrows excitedly.
I nodded my head as I tied it through the hole and right around his wrist.
"Thank you. Do you have to go?"
I nodded my head again. I held his pinky as he walked me towards my car.
"I'll miss you Chip." I didn't want to let go but my car was already here and waiting.
"Miss you Dip." He pulled away as I got into the car. I waved goodbye wiping a tear that had escaped.
Flashback over
I can't believe I didn't remember him.
Seven years old. Year Three. Room Eleven. Mrs. Dantè. Chip
Everything just came running back into head. How could I be so stupid?
I saw the bracelet that I had made for him, intricately woven with pebble like balls wrapped around the edges and in between each other. I obviously didn't make it but I chose the material and everything. Only this time the black pebbles had faded and the material was worn out. After all these years he had still kept it.
Everything just clicked I knew I had seen that face before I just wasn't sure. When I lifted up that sleeve tonight it only confirmed my earlier thoughts. What did I do, you ask? I ran.
Yes, I freaked and ran! I don't know why and I don't know where but all I know is that that has to be one of the most stupidest things I've ever done in my life.
He was my bestfriend for three whole years. It all started when some chubby fat kid kicked this skinny little kids sand castle which I thought was really cool. I wasn't very social and extremely quiet, had no friends but at that time I thought that my Dad was the only friend I ever needed. I saw how long it took for him to do it so I was angry when that bully did that but also when this skinny little kid did nothing.
Long story short. I punched his chubby face and made the skinny kid pull his pants down. From then on we exchanged lunches and became best friends. I called him Chip because he'd always have chips and so I brought the dip hence earning that as my nickname. I just hope he didn't remember that.
