Bethanie Carter
"Bethanie?" Karmin calls out my name. "Have you chosen a dress?"
"I..uh..yeah.." I put the phone back on the wall and grab an aqua dress.
"Oh, I love that one! It will look beautiful on you! Go, put it on." She smiles warmly and I walk into the dressing room.
I put on the dress and smile. I just had gotten a lot off my chest. The boys knew I was alive and that's all that matters. I zip the zipper and walk out to Karmin.
"Gorgeous." She smiles. "You know, Bethanie, you are a very beautiful young lady."
I smile and blush. Karmin was absolutely my favorite person that I've met since I've been..you know..kidnapped.
No, not because she just told me I'm pretty. It's because she reminded me of my mother. How kind and caring she is. She certainly doesn't seem like an evil minded, horrible person that helps kidnappers. No, definitely not.
"Well, time to do your make up. I'm just going to do natural colors since this isn't a huge event." She smiles and I sit down in her chair.
She gets busy on my make up and I sit there and think about what just went on in that closet. I had talked to Harry, and he was going to get me out of here. Let's just hope it will be sooner than later.
"You look gorgeous! As always!" She turns me around and I look into the mirror.
I have to admit, I do look pretty. The dress was more of a sundress than a fancy dress. And my hair was shining perfectly in the lighting of the room. The long, brown curls landing all around my shoulders.
"Oh, one more thing." She smiles and opens a closet door. "I saw you wearing these at that awards show. You looked stunning in them. So, I pulled a few strings to get them." She holds out the shoes I had worn at the boys' awards show.
I stand up and hug her. "Thank you." I smile and she hugs back.
Suddenly, she looks at me with a sympathetic look. "I know you must miss them," She whispers. "It must be very hard to get taken away from what is practically your family like that."
I look into her eyes, and for once, I know she understands that this isn't all fun and games for me. Quickly, I wipe away a stray tear that begun to make its way down my cheek.
She hands me a tissue. "I'm sorry. I wish we could let you go. I find this whole opperation just sick and twisted."
"It is. I mean, I can't believe this really is happening." I wipe my eyes and smile a little. "I'm glad you understand."
"I do." She starts to say something but the man walks in.
"All ready to go?" He asks.
I nod and Karmin says, "Have fun, sweetie."
The man gives her a questioning look but says nothing and takes my arm. "Great. Come along, Bethanie."
I smile back at her and walk with the man towards two, big, wooden, double doors. He opens them and for the first time in what seems like forever, I breathe in fresh, crisp air.
He smiles. "Enjoy breathing are that isn't musty?"
I nod and smile slightly. "Where are we going?"
"Oh, just out back. We could have gone out the back door but I figured you'd enjoy a longer walk. More fresh air." We start to walk around the building.
