For a few days Roxy was thinking only of the grandmother Audrey who show and told her of mermaids, Audrey's gift, and her wish. After a week Roxy returned to the cliff and saw Audrey standing watching the ocean, waiting for Roxy. "Uh-" "I had a vision of you being here on the cliff. Do you have an answer?" "Yes; I'll study and after a year or two I'll make a final decision." "Sounds good. Lets start teaching." "Teaching?" "Learning about ocean plants, animals, language, and swimming. As for any questions you may have go ahead and ask." "No I'm good, lets start." "You're eager to learn, to me that's a good quality... Do you know Latin?" "Yes, I studied it in school." "Well our language will come easy to you; our language is Latin but we can speak any language thanks to seaweed. I brought some a long for you, here." "It looks-" "I crushed it adding a secret ingredient." Roxy took the small jar, took the lid off, and gulped it down. "You now can speak and understand any language." Roxy took Audrey back to her small three-bedroom house to show Audrey where she'll be staying if she so chose and or find her, Roxy. The couple days Roxy worked at the preschool and after work got online or shopped for books on ocean anything from animals to plants and so forth. After two months or so of reading and Audrey quizzing Roxy like crazy it was time for Audrey to bring Roxy out into the ocean to work on swimming with a tail and practicing her breathing under water. Alternating her lungs so she could breathe under and above the water. Though Roxy was able to alternate her breathing and talking under water Audrey didn't yet bring Roxy to her clan. Audrey instead took Roxy out away from her clan to test Roxy more, see if she could identify the plants, animals, and remember whether they're poisonous or not. Roxy indeed remembered what she read. Now more studying, Audrey started teaching Roxy spells like a protector shield spell in which can grow big or small and can take any form depending on the caster. Spells took Roxy longer to learn for she had to know what the spell did and if she was strong enough, having the will power to cast it, and of course pronouncing it right. Although nearly half or three quarters gone by Roxy tried her very best with everything: preschool and learning from Audrey, Roxy didn't stop nor did she abandon or swayed. Roxy stayed firm doing everything she could even if she didn't get much sleep. By the end of the year Roxy learned everything Audrey could teach her all accept hunting, Audrey hopes her grandson be the one to teach her so that they could bond. Before leaving Audrey gave Roxy a bracelet, Roxy was told that it is a warner to warn her of nearby mermaids. Roxy accepted it with gratitude even though she knew she won't see one or have any nearby being that she was usually on the land and rarely gone to the beach. Audrey returned to the ocean to find her grandson, Daniel but before returning to her family and clan Audrey told Roxy she'll be back when she could, that she was giving Roxy more time to decide. Roxy though suspects something must be wrong or will go wrong.
