Two Worlds

Chapter 4

Roxy tried her best to get back into her old life but seeing the world through mer-eyes it changed her. Roxy still loved her job, chatting with Megan but now learning to be a mermaid made her want more. Wanting more out of life and exploring or learning more. Out of nowhere Roxy went swimming in the ocean as a mermaid looking for old ship wrecks to hopefully find antiques, gold, and or jewels. Eventually Roxy did find a ship wreck or two and indeed found what she was looking for. A few days gone by and Roxy was relaxing watching tv, trying to forget the treasure so it could dry. Once everything dried Roxy took it all to an antique dealer and so forth selling it all. Once everything was sold, Roxy took most of the money and paid five months ahead of time on rent. After paying rent she went she told her work she had go overseas, that a family member died, that she'll be back. Although it was a lie they believed her, Roxy took her necklace and headed to the cliff. Roxy went down the cave's trail, got to the opening, lowered herself into the water, and put the green pearled necklace around her neck, transforming her into a paley white, brown haired, and green-eyed mermaid. Roxy swam away from the land that was her home, heading East toward Spain. Roxy traveled a lot both in the ocean and on land. While swimming, traveling Roxy's bracelet warned her of a mermaid or merman nearby. Roxy skimmed, looking around her didn't see anything and it didn't help that a school of fish was swimming pass. Roxy started swimming again unsure where the merperson would be but then Roxy saw a boat and a fishing net. In the fishing net Roxy saw the captured mermaid that the bracelet was warning her of. Roxy went up to the net with a sharp jagged rock, cutting a roughly small hole which didn't help, so Roxy said an invisibility spell making the mermaid invisible, the net continued going up while the mermaid stayed where she was. Passing through the net made the mermaid realize she was invisible and wasn't being dragged up to the surface. The moment the net was above water Roxy released the spell and the mermaid reappeared. Both mermaids swam away from the boat, once the mermaid noticed they were far away from the boat she said in Latin "probhibere," meaning stop. Roxy stopped looking at her curiously and asked why in Latin. The other mermaid told her that they were far away from it. Roxy nodded her head and then said "lets speak in english." Though the mermaid didn't know why she said "ok... Thank you for rescuing me; my name is Erika." "Roxy and it's no problem. Why don't you cast a spell?" Erika seeing the necklace asked "you're a human aren't you?" "Uh I must go." "Roxy don't worry, I won't harm you." Though Erika said that Roxy still felt scared and unsure whether to trust her or not. While they swam, Erika leading the way back to her clan she explained to Roxy that mermaid clans have different skills, that make each clan different sometimes, and that each clan has a few hunters. Her clan talks to animals and the animals reply back with few telepaths, then there are spell casters, healers and telepaths. That each clan has at least one or more merperson who can do one of the skills. Roxy then asked Erika what her skill was, the moment Erika said telepath they were surrounded by merpeople from Erika's clan. Roxy placed a protective shield around them as Erika explained to her clan what happened. Erika then told Roxy it was all good and that they wanted to thank her, so Roxy took her shield down. Erika's clan swam forward hugging her or shaking her hand. Roxy followed Erika and her clan back to where they lived. On the way to Erika's home Roxy saw a turtle trying to eat a plastic bag. Roxy hurriedly swam toward the turtle trying hard to get it to release its jaw from the bag but couldn't. Roxy then said the invisible spell so the bag could be invisible that way Roxy could pull the turtle away. "Can you hold this turtle for a moment." The mermaid took the turtle in hand and held it; watching Roxy undo the spell revealing the bag and then another spell was said so that the plastic bag was completely destroyed that nothing was left of it. "You can let that turtle go." "What happened?" Asked the mermaid who was letting the turtle go. Erika then asked "why did you-" "That's a plastic bag, it's harmful to turtles and other animals. They can choke on it and die." The mermaids just stared at her as if she was an alien, "plastic bags are from above, the human world they use it to carry stuff in." They continued to look at Roxy until Erika said "lets go." They all continued swimming while Erika and Roxy continued their previous conversation and a little about what happened with the turtle and plastic bag.
