Chapter 2: Greatness From Small Beginnings

Cartagena, Colombia 

Twenty Years Ealier

Nate and I walked up to this building with a banner over the front door:

El Pirata Francis Drake

Nate and I look around the streets, making sure nobody was following us, then we enter the building. "All right....here we go." Nate whispers to me as we walk in the large room that had alot of display cases of some artifacts. We split up for a few moments as we look around to find what we were looking for.

"Find it?" Nate asked me after a few minutes of searching. "No....maybe upstairs." I said and both of us head upstairs and enter another large room with artifacts inside display cases. "It's gotta be in one of these cases." Nate said as we go and look around.

"Nate! Here it is!" I said and we come up to a case that had Francis Drake's ring. I smiled at it while Nate goes over to the side of the case but places his hand on the side. "Ahh, crap." He mutters. "What?" I asked him. "It's locked." He said and I rolled my eyes in annoyance. "Of course." I whispered as Nate looks at the decoder device that was next to the ring then he pulls out his notebook and began to draw.

I was watching him until I look up and noticed a man with dark hair and a mustache, who seemed to look around the cases. I nudge Nate and pointed out the man. He grabs my hand then we walk over to the corner and watch this man. He kinda looked over at us then goes to the side of the case we were just looking at. The man leans against the case and we could see that he had something in his hand and inserted it in the keyhole, turns it then pulls the key out and walks out.

Nate and I look at each other and we start to follow the man but both of us were grabbed by a couple of guards. They yelled at us and began to drag us out of the building. Then they throw us out of the building and into the street. Nate lands on his side and I land on my front and I groan in pain as Nate sits up as the guard yells at us. "Pendejo!" Nate shouts, angrily, at the men as they shut the door. 

"(Y/n), you okay?" He asked as he kneels down to me as I slowly get up. "Yeah, yeah...I'm fine." I said and Nate helps me up to my feet. We wipe off the dust and I look over and see that man down the street. "There he is!" I said and Nate turns around just as the man turns a corner then we begin to follow him.

Nate and I would hide behind cars or food stands as we do our best to follow this man as he walks through the streets of Cartagena. We even had to climb up on the walls of buildings because this man would go inside of a building that was locked. But luckily we saw him get a key and he put it in his wallet. "Okay....we gotta get that wallet." Nate whispered to me as we make our across the building while the man walks out of said building.

We continue our stalking as we walk along the roof and see him meet up with a woman. "Oh....who's your friend?" I muttered as we see the two hug each other then kiss. Nate and I climb down by using this large sign and follow the couple. Then we see them standing in front of a bar. "Now's your chance." Nate whispered to me and I nod at him as I walk up to the couple.
"It seems we have some time to kill." The woman said to the man. "I got an idea." The man said as I casually walk up to the man, pickpocket him and walk away as I walk over to Nate and I show him the wallet then the two of us walk away from the man and his date.

"Nice moves." Nate whispered as we turn a corner and began to run. "Thanks." I said when suddenly the man, out of nowhere, appears. "Crap!" Nate and I exclaimed as he grabs both of our arms. "Sueltame, viejo!" Nate and I shout at him as we struggle in his grip. "Let's try that again." The man said to us, angrily. "Let go of us!" We shouted at him.

"Ahh, that's what I thought. Now don't try to run." He said to us and both of us yank our arms out of his hands. I rubbed my wrist as the man said. "You two are a long way from home, kiddos." We glare up at him as Nate said. "Don't call us that."
