"What did he say?"
I banged my fist on the ground. Anger piled in my chest. It felt like a burning sensation building up. I felt like the anger was going to combust inside myself. Today wasn't getting any fucking better.
"What the fuck do you mean we're trapped here?!"
Bryson lunged towards me and grabbed my shoulders. He pulled me closer to him. His eyes had a strong hint of insanity. Just like me.
"That bus was our only way back to the real world. Without that bus, we're trapped here."
I pushed him off me.
"Then why the fuck have the buses not crashed before?" Bryson shook his head.
"Somethings changing, and I think everyone knows that. Including yourself." I scoffed. But, he wasn't wrong. If he was right about the bus thing, that means we really are stuck here. Now isn't the time to really start fights. I crossed my arms and stared into Brysons eyes. They made me shiver mentally.
"I still don't understand why the fuck I'm here, what this place is, or what's even going on, but I suppose it can't be helped." Bryson smiled at me.
"I knew you would catch on quick." I nodded. Even though Bryson can be an asshole, he takes responsibility, and I respect him for that. He seems like a great leader.
I felt a light, slimy hand grip shoulder and turned to see Mara's demented smile.
"What?" Mara let go of my shoulder.
"I think it's time I explain some things to you. So, maybe some things will probably start to make sense. I'll answer as many questions as I am physically aloud too." I felt actual joy. Something I haven't felt in a long time.
I followed Mara into a spare room in the small classroom that we used as a hideout. She turned on the lights and pulled out two small crates to sit on. I sat down on one and faced Mara. She sat herself down and smiled at me. I mean, when is she not smiling.
"So, something that you need to know, is that this world has rules." The hell?
"Rules, really?"
"Yes, and if you don't follow them, you'll die"
"Who made these rules?" Mara stopped smiling. Her eyes filled with an emotion, I couldn't describe. I'm normally good at reading other's emotions, but... I just couldn't read Mara's.
"They did." They?
"They?" Mara's long tongue slipped out of her mouth.
"Don't speak of Them poorly!" I think now's a good time to shut up. I think Mara knew that I knew. Her tongue wiggled back into her mouth, leaving a trail of spit on her chin. Her smiled returned. The emotion faded from her eyes. My body released from it's tense position.
"Ok! So, Rule 1; Don't ever try to leave the school, or you'll die. You'll be shot by Them.
Rule 2; The more you kill, the more insane you'll become. The more you'll hear voices after rounds of killing and the more unstable you'll become.
Rule 3; If you die here, you'll die in the real world.
Rule 4; If you get "the treatment" your memory will be erased.
Rule 5; (which only relates to you,) try not to use "red eyes" to often", that's all!"
I was speechless. Although...
