giving y'all some more soft gay shit ur welcome
"I'm glad you guys made it," Jon tells Spencer and Brendon, who both smile slightly. They all have noticed the absent person from the table, to which Jon says, "I haven't heard from Ryan all morning. He probably slept in, is running late."Brendon nods and looks at the empty seat across from him.
"It's alright, until he arrives, we can catch up," Spencer says, so they nod. "So, how are you?"
"I'm good, yeah. Um, band's doing fine, been having more shows around LA, it's pretty sick. What about you guys?"
"Good," Brendon says quickly. "Same here, but... without the shows thing. We got a touring guitarist and a new bassist, they are quick to learn the songs, and we've got tour coming up starting January. Album's set to be released on...?" Brendon looks at Spencer, not remembering.
"March 22nd."
"Looks like you guys got it figured out," Jon says with a sad smile.
"Mostly. Dallon's been a huge help. We... honestly couldn't do any of this without him. He just finished a band, The Brobecks. Don't tell him, but I really like their songs," Spencer says, causing Jon to laugh lightly. "Anyway, he's been getting us back on track after everything that happened. He doesn't know anything, we try not to talk about it to anyone. In fact, we didn't talk about it until three months ago, and we were drunk and briefly mentioned you."
"It's been a little over a year," Brendon adds. "Still think Ryan hates me."
A guilty expression flickers in Jon's face, so he looks down sadly. Brendon's heart sinks.
"Um, I'm... I'm gonna go to the bathroom," he says, standing and walking away.
"While we have the chance," Spencer suddenly says, heart pounding. Jon looks at him and vice versa. "Maybe we could talk? You and I?"
"About?"
"Us?"
Jon nods, trying to get himself to relax and stop tensing. "How do you feel? About... everything?"
"I regret it." Jon's heart sinks, but Spencer continues, "Fighting, I mean. I would never regret being with you."
"Same here," Jon answers truthfully. "Ryan still doesn't know, and I'm assuming Brendon doesn't either?" Spencer shakes his head.
"No, definitely not."
"Is that why you've shut Dallon out about it? Because of us?"
"I never said I shut him out," Spencer says guiltily.
"I know. Dallon told me that."
Spencer tenses. "Wait, what? You talked to him?"
"Ryan and I met him the other night. Yeah, they... Ryan doesn't really like him that much..." Jon says nervously. "Anyway, he said you shut him out when he tried to talk about us, and... I guess I didn't really realize that what happened between us hurt you that bad."
Spencer looks down.
"I mean, you and I..." Spencer sighs. "Three years, you know? We could have gotten married by now."
They both laugh, remembering the day that Jon joined. They were all friends with him for three years, and now it's different.
"Who said we still can't?" Jon asks. Spencer looks at him. There's a long silence, tears starting to form in each other's eyes. "I still love you." Jon swallows. "I haven't stopped."
"I still love you too," Spencer says, and they both break into smiles.
"Do you want to pick up where we left off?"
Spencer nods.
"I'd very much like that." They smile wide at each other.
"Will you be my boyfriend again?" Jon asks, and Spencer nods.
"Yeah, I will. This time I think I'll be okay with telling the guys once we get used to it again."
"Me too. Not just yet, because... well, this is the first time I've seen you in person in over a year," Jon jokes, causing them to laugh. "You still have my number, right?"
"Of course. You have mine?"
"Obviously."
They smile at each other as Brendon walks over to the table, both immediately shutting up.
They're gonna be alright.
