"Nietzsche once said, 'Man is as a rope stretched between the animal and the superhuman. A rope over an abyss. It is a dangerous crossing, a dangerous looking-back, a dangerous trembling, and halting.'"
Sir Reginald Hargreeves stood at the top of the stairs with his book in hand. Vanya stood beside him with a clipboard and a whistle around her neck.
Abigail, Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Five, and Ben stood at the bottom of the stairs looking up to the top, ready to go at a blow of a whistle. They were wearing their green training outfits.
Reginald closed his book and looked to Vanya. She blew the whistle and everyone commenced running. Luther immediately made his at the front, forcing his way past Diego and Allison. Five was next tailgated by Abigail, while Klaus and Ben hung at the back.
"As much as you must strive for individual greatness, and strive you must, for it won't come to you of its own accord... you must also remember that there is no individual stronger than the collective."
Diego had managed to advance onward to the first place. Luther and Allison hot on his heels. Five got fed up with his position and spatial jumped to the next flight of stairs, setting him firmly in first place.
"That's not fair, Five's cheating!" Diego shouted in protest.
"He adapted," Reginald said.
Abigail caught her father's retort and simpered. 'We can use our powers? Thanks, for clearing that up, Five. Well, let's hope this works and I lose an arm or something.'
Abigail concentrated and transformed her entire body into a lightning-like being of pure electrical energy. She went into the electrical outlet and progressed with ease to the top of the stairs. She reformed beside Vanya and her father and went back to her normal form.
The siblings looked at her in surprise. Abigail turned to Vanya and beamed. "Do I win?" Vanya nodded, grinning back at her. Abigail studied Sir Reginald for his reaction. She noticed a gleam of amusement in his normally stoic and cold eyes. The sight exhilarated her more than her victory in the race.
Abigail heard panting and fussing behind her. Five had spatial jumped to the top with a scowl on his face to which Abigail just smirked back. The others made it to the top, wheezing and out of breath.
"So not fair..." Diego grunted.
Abigail simply shrugged without repentance. "Thank Five for the idea." Five's scowl narrowed even more.
"Indeed, Number Zero. Though may I inquire as to when and how you had learned that little trick of yours?" Reginald asked.
"Oh, you know, practice. A few times running into walls."
