It was a warm day and the streets were busy with people bussling around in t-shirts and short pants. It seemed that most of the population of London headed to the beach-not like there were any good beaches. The sun was shining bright and the trees swayed to the soft wind, and even Zoe felt compelled to enjoy the sunshine and travel by herself, down to the park. Leaving her brown hair out to blow in the wind, she turned to her closet and spent nearly ten minutes trying on every single skirt or dress, shirt and pants that she owned. It wasn't that Zoe was vain and she always wanted to 'dress to impress', it was because she didn't want to be judged or she wanted to feel comfortable and like no one would notice her. So, in a tireless effort which envolved Tori's fashion help, Zoe finally left the house in shorts and a sweater. So much effort just for choosing clothes!
It took exactly five minutes for Zoe to walk down the street and reach the park. With her hands folded in front of her and her eyes looking down, she was drawing more intention to herself that she intended. People would raise an eyebrow, curious as to why this girl wasn't enjoying the sun, why was she looking at the ground, what's so interesting about the ground? Of course, Zoe didn't notice and continued walking into the park until she reached the park bench. Sitting down, she pulled out her novel (The curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) and began to read. Completely lost in her own thoughts and the book, Zoe didn't even notice someone sit down beside her. But soon enough, as she heard the shuffle of book pages and a small cough, she stopped in her tracks. Oh geez, please don't try to start a conversation with me!
Sneakily, Zoe looked in her peripheral vision to see that a teenage boy was sitting next to her. He looked about her age, with messy brown hair and by what she could tell, blue eyes. The mysterious boy was also reading a book-The Kite Runner- which Zoe had read last winter, she wanted so dearly to talk to the boy about the book but she wouldn't dare. Instead, the two of them sat there, not talking to eachother and pretended they were reading. The boy next to Zoe did notice her presence and found her chestnut brown eyes fascinating. More people passed by the two teenagers and slowly the sun started to cast an oranger glow over the park. The whole day was spent reading and Zoe had finished her book already, probably the same with the boy next to her. Feeling a small vibration in her shoulder bag, Zoe rummaged through her bag to find her phone only to see sixteen worried messages from Tori. Packing up her belongings (the book) Zoe headed off towards home, the strange boy on her mind as she walked. While the strange boy sat at the park bench for a moment longer after Zoe left, he was also relieved that the strange girl next to him didn't start a conversation, because conversations involved talking and talking was something that the boy didn't want to do. One of the differences between the boy and Zoe was that she was anti-social, shy and not out-going. On the other hand, the boy was kind and friendly, funny and all that nice positive stuff. But that was during Primary School, things are slightly different for him now.
Soon enought, Zoe arrived home to be greeted by her sister, who looked very paranoid but also... pleased?
"There you are, god I was really getting worried there for a second. Didn't think you would stay out for that long". Tori awkwardly giggled but stopped when she looked at the nonchalant expression plastered on Zoe's face.
"I was reading". Zoe walked past Tori and up the stairs into her room like always, while Tori slowly closed the door, shaking her head and sighing.
As Zoe was up in her room probably reading again, Tori went into the kitchen and started cooking pasta, which was one of the things her Dad taught her how to do. It was basically the same old routine every single day, Zoe goes to the park, Tori makes dinner, Zoe goes up to her room, Tori watches the same movie, period.
Tori hadn't talked to her ex-boyfriend Lachlan since the breakup and she hasn't been out with friends either. Completely un Tori-like. To be honest, she was bored, bored out of her mind and her brain felt like porridge. Finally, she heard footsteps quietly come down the stairs as she shouted out that dinner was ready. There was only silence between the two girls as they sat at the dinner table, Zoe finished first then dissapeared up to her room while Tori cleaned up.
