Hiccup woke up first, a tad bit confused and shocked when he looked down at himself before remembering the events of yesterday. A smile replaced his confused face as he recalled his transformation. He was happy, for he was finally who he was meant to be all along. The first time he flew on the back of Toothless as a human, he felt powerful, confident, tranquil.
He wasn't weighed down by the feelings of sadness or loneliness. Up there he was free. He always wondered while he was human what it was like to have wings of his own. He loved flying with Toothless, but flying next to him is something he longed for.
He looked up to see his father still sleeping with a peaceful expression on his face. It was hard to believe that only a few days ago he was still on Berk, a disappointment, a disgrace. Now he was in a world that not many knew about and was happy and peaceful.
Toothless woke up to see his son looking at him, he smiled a toothless smile getting a laugh out of Hiccup in the process.
"Hello Hiccup," Toothless said to his son.
Hiccup smiled at him before responding.
"Hello Dad."
Toothless let Hiccup out of his embrace before stretching. He looked at his son, noticing the traits he had inherited. He looked like a night fury with a humanoid form. His wings had little white lightning bolts on them. His tail had patches of white at the end telling Toothless that Hiccup saw Luna as a parent. This thought made Toothless pause and think about Luna. The way her scales were the opposite of his. The way that she was fierce but gentle when she wanted to be. How her scales looked when they reflected the moons light giving her a sparkling quality. He was so caught up in her that he had failed to notice that Hiccup was talking to him.
"Hey, do you think we can find some food somewhere?" Hiccup asked.
Toothless blinked then responded,
"Um- yeah, I bet we can ask around where the fish are. Speaking of which, you probably should try raw fish. Seeing as though you inherited the traits of a night fury, you might end up loving it."
Hiccup nodded before looking down from their cave. The big white crystal stood in the middle of the enormous chamber. Like a throne for a king. He looked back at Toothless after realizing the major issue.
"Um, how do I fly?" Hiccup asked.
Toothless looked at Hiccup before looking at the chamber and then looking back at Hiccup.
"Oh no, you are not going to try to fly down right after you got your wings. You need to learn how to use them. It takes time and practice. I can teach you today and we can practice. I will let you fly on your own when you start to feel comfortable doing it on your own." Toothless said.
He was very uncomfortable with the idea of Hiccup already trying to fly without any possible means of support scared him. The young teen was already reckless enough. Toothless knew that if he let hiccup fly on his own, he would do one of two things.
He would A; immediately drop and fall crashing and most likely killing himself on the process, or B; somehow succeed in gliding, only to get cocky and crashing into the giant white crystal in the middle of the chamber and then falling and killing himself.
Both of these outcomes were not desirable and Toothless would like to keep his Son alive.
Hiccup pouted before laying back down next to the dragon. He felt tired still which was unusual since he got a good night's worth of sleep. He looked at Toothless before inquiring about it.
"Hey dad, and idea as to why I feel so tired and drained?" Hiccup asked.
Toothless pondered for a second before deciding to ask Nott and Aurora. He looked at Hiccup and gestured for him to climb onto his back. Hiccup obliged, and toothless took off, flying towards the cave closest to the crystal in the middle. In the cave, they see Luna, Aurora, and Nott. Toothless stared at Luna taking in her beauty and feeling a burning feeling in his chest. He couldn't stop staring at Luna she was just so... beautiful.
Hiccup chuckled from the face his father was giving Luna. She looked at him and Toothless snapped out of his trance and blushed a blue color. Luna chuckled slightly at the look on Toothless face. She had to admit, the Night Fury was cute when he got flustered. He had this habit of twiddling with the claws on his left paw when he got nervous.
Hiccup got off his Fathers back before turning to Nott and Aurora. He nodded in greeting before speaking,
"So I'm feeling unusually worn out. I was wondering if it was the ritual or if it was something else." Hiccup stated.
Nott payed his head down before speaking,
"Tell me, at what time of day did you fall asleep last night?" Nott inquired.
Hiccup thought for a minute.
"Night time, like always." Hiccup responded.
Nott chuckled before standing up. He looked at Toothless who was yawning.
"Yeah, that ought to be it. Night Furies are nocturnal. You probably need more sleep. Your body is getting adjusted to your new form so you will have to figure things out. You probably inherited other traits as well." Nott explained.
Hiccup and Toothless both nodded. They left the chamber after saying goodbye and flew back to the cave. Hiccup immediately felt toothless embrace him and nuzzle his hair.
"Come on Hiccup, you heard Nott, you need more sleep." Toothless insisted.
Hiccup got comfy in the protective embrace of his father before he felt his eyes close. He started to feel peaceful and drifted off to a pleasant dream of him flying alongside Toothless.
