Chapter 2 - The Invitation

Soul groaned as I got up to greet Kid "Hello Liz, am i interrupting anything?" Kid asked as he hugged me.

"As a matter of fact Kid..." Soul began.

"No, Nothing at all" I jumped in. Kid smiled and looked over my shoulder towards Soul who was now annoyed by Kid's presence.

"If I'm interrupting anything I can talk to you at home instead." Kid began to say.

Soul got up, "That would be..." I raised my hand at him as I turned his way "but Liz..."

I shook my head and turned at Kid, "You were saying?" Soul sighed and slumped back down on the bench looking at us.

Kid cleared his throat and began to speak once again "Well, as I was saying, if you don't have any plans for tonight, Patty and I had decided to go to the movies, all three of us."

I smiled at his invitation "As much as I'd love to... I can't" I solemnly said as my smile faded.

"Oh? Why not?" He asked quickly afterwards.

"Well you see..." I began.

"You see she already has plans for tonight" Soul said with a smirk as he hugged me from behind.

Kid's expression turned blank "Oh... I see," he sighed, "I'll just tell your sister you couldn't make it." Straightening himself up he dismissed himself as he slowly walked away.

I could feel my face burn as I bit my lip, "Kid, wait..." I somehow managed to say.

Kid stopped dead in his tracks, but didn't look back "Yes? What is it?" He asked.

"I-I'll go..." I said with a sigh.

Soul's words struck me as he let go of his embrace, "But Liz!"

Kid did not turn around but I could catch a glimpse of a smile forming across his face. "Great!" He finally turned around displaying no emotion whatsoever.

I sighed and looked back at the young reaper, "On one condition Kid..."

Kid smiled as his golden eyes shimmered in the sun's rays ,"Yes? What condition is that?"

I looked back at Soul and smiled, "If it's ok to take him."

Soul's vacant expression suddenly changed as he chuckled and embraced me once more as he kissed my cheek, "I knew you wouldn't break your promise."

I smiled and turned to Kid who's smile had disappeared,

"Y-You can't be serious Liz..." Kid stuttered.

"I'm serious, I'll only go if Soul comes along." I smiled.

"Think of it as... A double date."

Kid's eyes widened, "But...Liz, Patty and I aren't..."

Soul rolled his eyes "Kid calm down, just go as friends. It's not so bad."

Kid stomped his foot, "Ok fine! Meet up at our house at 8pm! No later than that!" He huffed before he walked away.

Soul chuckled, "Man, it's been two years and he hasn't changed at bit."

I gave a faint smile, "Right... Still the same as ever."
