"And that Keon guy, remember? Hes kinda the reason I hid my ability in the first place."

John scratched the back of his head nervously as he explained, golden eyes trailing observantly on Seraphina's expression.

She nodded, "Yeah, I remember that guy. Why so?"

He sighed, "Those classes he was talking about- Those were the same classes I was put through after New Bostin."

Seraphina's eyes widened a little, curiosity increasing, "What did- What did he do to you?" She regretted asking the question when she noticed John had started to tremble a little.

"It...was messed up. Mind you, I was 14. He..." John took a deep breath before continuing, "He kept showing me pictures of the people I had beat up- The friends I'd beat up."
He shuddered, "My hands were bound and he slammed my head into a table multiple times to 'ingrain' a lesson into my head"

Seraphina felt fear and worry jolt through her.
That was why he was so scared of me talking to the Keon guy.
She put a hand on his shoulder, "Hey. Its alright if you don't wanna talk about it anymore. You don't have to tell me everything if you dont want to." She assured him.

It worked, though. His gaze seemed to soften a little.
"Its okay. I've gotten over all that." He admitted to himself. "I know I'll never really be able to forget it but...at least I let it go."

"Its better to move forward than stay in the past."

That's the motto he's been following ever since he told Sera about his ability.
They'd been doing this thing where they would both talk about something that's happened in their life. He knew it was cheesy, but it did help resolve the last of the trust issues that they had developed after the reveal.

"Anyway. What's been goin' on with you?" John asked, shoving a hand into his jacket pocket.

Sera shrugged, "Mom hasn't talked to me in a while. Not that Im complaining."

"I've been talking to Leilah,too." She added, "She said she might be coming over to visit since she and her boyfriend have a date planned out"

"Ah! Thats great!" John smiled, then deflated a little, "I don't think I've ever met your sister before..." He laughed nervously, fiddling his fingers.

"I mean, you don't have to meet her if you're too scared to." She teased, blue eyes alight with mischeif.

John gestured with his hands, "Its not that I think shes not nice or anything! It- Its just..." An image popped up in his head, "If she was as uptight as you were when we first met then she might have some problems with me."

Sera looked at him, pretending to be offended, but couldn't hide her laughter, "It wasn't my fault! You were annoying!"

He laughed with her for a bit before recieving a message.
