"So, your saying that you will for for me?," he says.
"Um no," I laugh. "I'm just saying-."
"Oh no I get it," he says. "Your just scared."
Jessie tries walking away but I stopped him dead in his tracks.
"I bet I can make you fall for me," I say.
He laughs. "I don't have the heart to do that."
"Worth a try to prove you wrong," I say smiling.
"You mean prove me right," he says crossing his arms over his chest.
I laugh. "Whatever helps you sleep at night."
"So, you in for a bet?," he asks with a devilish smirk.
"What am I getting out of this," I ask.
"Anything you want."
"Okay, tell me the plan."
"Okay," he says. "We will be a happy couple for the rest of this year. No talking to the opposite gender. It's got to look real."
I roll my eyes; already knowing what's about to be said.
"Which means, we will kiss, hug, hold hands and all that jazzy stuff," he says. "You have to participate and play the part too. No telling anyone about this. You will sit with me at lunch and I'll walk you to your classes."
"Okay," I say. "But you have to give me piggyback rides whenever I get tired."
He rolls his eyes. "Fine, but you have to come to all of my soccer games."
"Most of them," I say.
"Alright, most of them."
I smile. "Alright, do we have a deal?"
I hold out my pinky for him to finalize the bet. He grabs hold of it with his pinky and locks it.
"Oh and first one to fall loses," he says. "If you win, I'll get you whatever you want."
"And if you win?," I ask.
He smiles. "I get whatever I want."
"Fine, so when does this start?," I ask.
"Tomorrow," he says. "Give me your number so I can text you the plan."
We swapped numbers and I take the book before he can.
*Ring*
The bell rang, signaling that fifth period was over. I rush out the library to my car to wait for Carla. I stood by my car smiling. I was confident I was going to win this bet. But a little part of me regreated the handshake.
"Hey bestie," Carla says walking up to me. "Ready to go."
"Yep, come on," I say.
