luke had woken up with a terrible headache, a dry throat and in a bed that he was unfamiliar with. he didn't bother panicking for two reasons: one, it hurt too much for him to think and two, in the back of his head he knew he was somewhere safe. he didn't know why, but he just knew.

the boy was shirtless and without pants wrapped in soft white blankets that were cool at touch with his bare skin. the sun's bright light peered through sheer curtains which then indicated luke to take a look around the room, and maybe figure out where he was. it didn't take him long before his eyes dropped at a particular picture frame; although it had no pictures in it, he knew who it belonged to. it was the same frame ashton had in his old apartment back home, before he evidently came here.

the boy blinked slowly before rising from his position and rubbing his face before attempting to crawl out of bed before he heard a voice beckon.

"what are you doing?" ashton stated, walking out of the restroom in what had been just a white towel wrapped around his waist. oddly, luke wasn't fazed. it was all something he had seen before, if anything he was more mature than he was back then.

luke met the man in his eyes before continuing his process of getting out the bed. "i have to go, i have to make two seventeenth century design by next week and i'd like to get started now."

"don't you have a headache?" ashton asked, tilting his head as he used another towel to dry his hair.

"no." luke lied.

"stomach ache?"

"no."

"nause-"

"ashton i'm fine. i thank you for letting me stay here instead of going back to the dorm drunk and miserable, unable to make decisions but right now im not any of those things and i'm capable of making the decision that i should go." luke stated sternly. if he hadn't known better he would think ashton was trying to make him stay longer, but he was probably just being a doctor— or whatever he was being at the moment

ashton, who was a taken aback from luke's assertiveness, nodded his head before sitting on the corner of his bed. "why were you out like that anyways?"

at this time luke had remembered he was standing in front of his college doctor half naked. he scurried around to find his clothes neatly folded on top of ashton's three dressers. "i had been studying so hard since i got here. i was advised to go out which i did, and then i had one drink and then— you know how that goes." he said. by the end of his story he was already putting on his belt and fluffing his hair ready to go.

"anymore questions before i leave?"

"no. you're smart enough to let yourself out." ashton said to which luke complied and simply left, without any word or thought to the situation.

maybe luke was a bit oblivious to this matter, but he didn't think anything of it. if anything, he was convincing himself that ashton was just doing his job and that was it. he didn't allow himself to have any other compromising thoughts, just not now and not today.

after catching a cab and walking 10 minutes back to his dorm, luke had successfully made it. he took a shower and threw on a pair of sweats, a white tee and a denim jacket alongside with a burgundy beanie to hide his hair. just as he grabbed his materials to head to the designing tables, his lovely ex-friend turn roommate decided to walk in with a million questions.

"where were you last night?" calum asked, throwing his tote bag on his bed before smoothing out his now platinum blond hair that went extremely well with the pastel outfit he was wearing.

"i went out." luke said discreetly as he put on his glasses, ready to head out.

"well i mean— yeah, but you didn't come back here. where'd you spend the night? and.. with who?" calum asked, being a bit too nosey for luke's liking.

"listen calum, i do admire that we've become civil and we both put everything out on the table, but i'm just not there yet to tell you where i went and who i was with— although i wasn't with anyone and had just.. crashed at a friends house." luke whispered.

"you don't have any friends luke. i find that hard to believe you were at a friends house." calum retorted, crossing his arms over his chest. "you're acting weird."

"i'm not, why would i be?"

"maybe after you saw ashton?"

"i'm over that, it was in the past." he grumbled before heading to open the door once again.

"well— then you won't mind if me and him go out on a date? i asked and he surprisingly said yes." calum said, his nose hypothetically held high. luke knew he couldn't trust him and this just gave him reasonings to why.

luke looked at him and shrugged his shoulders. "like i said, over it."

and with that, he left.
