I ran into the house in a panic. I have to tell mom.
"Mom! Mom!" I screamed. I didn't see mom but seen Levi.
"Levi!" I must've scared with my sudden screaming.
"Hals? What's wrong? Are you ok?" By this point I'm full on sobbing. I can't breathe, my legs are going weak, and I'm a jumbled mess.
"No. No I'm not alright. I-I..it's horrible! There's, there's a body laying in the creek. I-i, what do I do??"
"Take me to him. Can you do that?" I simply nodded.
I took him to the creek and as suspected the boy is still there. I look away hiding behind Levi.
"Hayls I need you to call 9-1-1, ok? I'll..I'll stay here.." he trails off. I'm more than happy to leave.
"9-1-1 what's your emergency?"
"Hi yes I'm Hayley Fox, I live on east avenue 3rd I'm at the end of the block. I-I just found a dead body at the creek behind my house."
"Ok mam did you see anyone out there?"
"No."
"Who is at the house with you?"
"My stepbrother."
"Ok mam we're on our way." She says.
"Thank you." I hung up the phone and ran back to where Levi was."
"They're on the way.." I trail off. He doesn't do anything except nod and hug me. That's when I break and cry more.
"That's when you guys showed up." I told the sheriff.
"And you had just moved here correct?" I nodded.
"Does your brother know him?" I shrugged. He sighed, "Look Hayley, I know you're shaken up." I cut him off.
"Shaken up?? I am more than shaken up! I found a dead person at the back of my fucking house! Shaken up is an understatement of the goddamn century. It's not everyday you find a dead body behind your house, you know?" I sassed him.
"What else did you see? Any evidence nearby?" He asked. As I got closer as the police were being called in. I saw blood on his jacket. I also seen a monkey wrench about 10 feet away. I moved from Levi and walked towards it.
"What are you doing?" He scolded. I ignored and picked up the wrench. I didn't see anything on it so I just laid it back down.
"What was that?"
"It was a monkey wrench..it could be evidence." I replied.
"The police will deem it that way."
"It's near a crime scene Levi. It's going to be subjected as a possible murder weapon." I replied sharply."You guys never picked it up. So I just left it."
"Why didn't you tell us?"
"Maybe you should've looked more instead of leaving it be. Maybe you should've investigated more."
"Alright, you and your family are going to have to stay in another home until this is cleared up." He informed.
"Nothing new." I mumbled. He nodded towards the door for me to leave.
I walked out of the interrogation room back to my family.
"So? How'd it go?" Mom asked. I scoffed and brushed her off. "It went so amazing. Having to relive a traumatic experience. At place that's supposed to be safe! Yeah it went amazing mom." She sighed and nodded.
"Let's go home."
