she hurried towards her dorm room
once morning classes ended
i followed and quickly caught up with her
'i rented gone with the wind
cause i know it's your favorite.
we can watch it together, later tonight.
i'll make popcorn'
she didn't answer
but she quickened her pace
'you're walking so fast,
maybe you can join track with me' i joked
she stopped dead in her tracks
and faced me
'i have a boyfriend'
at first it didn't register in my brain
but as my heart began to slow
and my smile faded away
i realized i'd heard her correctly
'boyfriend?'
she looked away
i wanted to vomit
and i wanted my heart to come out with it
so i'd never love like this again
'i'm so sorry jules'
she ran away
