Chapter 30 New allies

Annabeth pov

Blackjack dropped me off and flew away. Coward. But once I turned around I understood why. The out side of the Japanese-Greek camp was a barbed wire with an arch to walk through with the Japanese and Greek flags hanging from it. "Yep this was a mistake" I said to myself. I walked like 3 steps before guards dressed as a mix of samurai and ancient Greek warriors. "State your name and business!" One of them said. I could tell they were the comander and male. Their voice and body language made that Crystal clear. The one thing that suprised me was that he knew perfect English. "My name is Annabeth Chase, Daughter of Athena." "I am Aki, Son of Ares" he said. "If you don't mind me asking." I started "How do you speak English so fluently?" To my surprise he didn't take it too personally. "My grandmother was American. She came to Japan on vacation. When she met my grandfather she decided to live here. She taught me English when I was young." Okay why not. I thought to myself "I'm here for something lost in the Cave of Screams" I told him. He took of his helmet reveling his face.(Wich was Asian by the way) He had brown eyes,dark hair,He had muscles (the signature sign of a child of Ares) "Bad idea" Aki told me "All who go in never come out" "Really?" I asked feeling a bit discouraged "The last person to go in and come out was Hermes himself. And even he barely made it" "You don't understand" I told him "My friends life depends in this" he sighed and said "Its worth a shot" he said "Follow me ill show you the camp. To be honest. The camp was impressive. Despite the fact that it was arranged like a mix of a military encampment and a summer camp. Ares a must have had the most influence here. But other than that it was pretty nice. The cabins were arranged in a circle around a circle of statues of heros . Some Odly resembled me and my friends (the Greek ones only...huh strange). And as if that wasn't enough. Those a circle around statues of all the gods. And I mean all of them. A cafeteria building stood off to the eastern side. A command tent was right smack in the middle if that perfect circle. To the west was an arena. With every kind of weapon imaginable. Kids were riding horses,shooting arrows, forging weapons,rowing boats(Speaking of water travel. Their navy was made out of retired Japanese warships.) "Nice place" I told Aki "Thanks" he said "We work hard to keep this place safe. But that doesn't mean we don't like to be cozy" "Sooo about the thing I need to get." Aki paused and looked at me "What is it that you need?" I explained to him all about Tartarus being awake and the situation me and my friends were in. Once I was done Aki took a deep breath "Well I suppose I could take you out there" he said "Really?" I said "That'd be great thanks" He gestured for me to follow and we went down to the docks. When we got there I noticed their was a airport. With every kind of war plane you could imagine. Going up from WW2 to modern day. The Japanese would prove good allies in this fight. Aki pointed towards a small gun boat. It had mounted machine guns. One on each side Bow,port,starboard,and stern had a machine gun. He started the engine. Took him a few tries but when he finally did he smiled triumphantly and said "Oh the old girls still got it" and we got moving. About 2 hours later the sum started going down and trouble started. The boat rocked and creek and suddenly it stopped. "Umm what was that?" I asked "I don't know!" Aki said softly. Suddenly a green tentacle wrapped around the bow. "What the-" Aki started when another tentacle wrapped around his ankle and dragged him under. "KRAKEN!!!" He screamed at the top of his lungs. Then he disappeared. The boat lurched forward and that's when I saw its face. A giant squid 5 times the size with the jaw of a shark. But not just any shark. This was a Megalodon. It roared in anger. On instinct I drew my sword. I had to be strategic about this. Then I saw my opportunity. There was a weak spot on its forehead. I climbed to the top of the back of the wheel house. I started to run then I jumped. It looked like I scence from 300. I lodged my sword right in the weak spot. It screeched then exploded to dust. Fortunately Aki was alive he flopped onto the deck. "Thanks" he said "I owe you one". We started the boat again and this time we weren't attacked thank the gods. When we landed I turned to Aki. "When I get out" I told him "I'll send a beacon of light. This will be your cue to come get me ok?" "Ok" he said. I started walking when he said "Hey Annabeth" I turned to look at him. "If you and your friends in America and scattered across the world need any help against Tartarus. Give the word and the Greek army of Japan will honorably fight beside you" I smiled and nodded my head. I started walking into the cave. Knowing I might never come back out.
