so i've been at this camp for a week and weren't allowed to use our phones. sorry for not posting, i hope this makes up for it
"What do you say we close that door. We can't have any kind of party with Vernon checking us out every few seconds." John gets up from his seat, ending the awkwardness and moves to the railing, hopping up and sitting on it. Jamie sits on the table, feet on top of the seats in front of her.
She holds her head up with her hand, elbow digging into her thigh."The door is supposed to stay open..." Brian trails off.
"And?" Jamie sighs. She knew she should care, but her mind is foggy with sleep.
"So why don't you shut up! There's four other people here you know."
"You can count?" Jamie asks, raising a brow. "I thought you guys didn't have a brain," she shrugs, a quiet hum passing her lips.
"You know what, you're both nothing. I mean you both could disappear and it wouldn't make any difference. You don't even exist at this school." The Benders bite their tongues, each feeling the lead in their stomach. Jamie pulls herself together first, clicking her tongue in annoyance.
"Well, I'll just join the cheerleading team." Andrew glances at the girl, noticing how the wraps on her knuckles seem to be darker, as her nails seem to pierce her palm.
"Yeah," John starts, glancing at his sister as well. He sees her hands clenched into fists as she's noticeably biting her tongue. He ignores it though, thinking she's overreacting. "Maybe prep club too! Student council."
"No, they wouldn't take you," Andrew chuckles, not sincerity in his voice.
" You know why you guys knock everything?" Claire adds on, not waiting for an answer.
"Oh, this should be stunning," John mumbles.
"It's 'cause you're afraid."
"Damn, you ritchies are smart! Exactly why I'm not heavy in activities." Jamie's enthusiasm is as dead as her soul.
"You two are big cowards. You're afraid that they won't take you. You don't belong so you just dump all over it."
"Well, it wouldn't have anything to do with you activities people being assholes, now would it?" John wonders.
"Well you wouldn't know. You don't even know any of us."
"I don't know any lepers either, but I'm not gonna go off and join one of their fucking clubs," Jamie adds, getting a reaction from Andrew.
"Let's watch the mouth, huh?"
"Gladly." She smirks proudly, tilting her head to the side. Andrew swallows dryly, moving his eyes away from her.
