"Andrew, get the door!" the boy rolls his eyes at his father's booming voice. Nevertheless, he follows orders. Throwing on a shirt, he leaves his room and goes down the stairs to open the door, surprised at who he sees.
"Oh-um, Jamie!" He rubs the back of his neck, looking behind him in case his parents come down. "What are you doing here? I mean-I want you here but-" A giggle from the latter silences his banter, a smile forming on his lips instead.
"I wanted to ask you something." She bites her lip, wondering if she could back out. She knows she can't when he yells something at his parent before standing outside, closing the door in front of her.
"What's up?"
She opens her mouth before shutting it, finding herself regretting coming here. Still, her curiosity beats her anxiety. "Do you put me before yourself?"
"Of course." She looks up at him, brows raised in surprise. It makes a laugh leave him. "What?"
"I didn't think you'd answer that fast. I figured I'd be like eighth or ninth on your list." She shrugs, looking around the neighborhood. It's better than any place she could imagine. She would think about it more, but Andrew turns her head towards him, grabbing the girl softly by her chin.
"You're on the top of my list," he swears. Jamie can feel a bubbly feeling in her stomach. She has to bite her lip to make sure nothing stupid comes out. Knowing it would only be temporary, she silences her words with a kiss, pressing herself against the jock. She feels his hair, the strands soft against her calloused fingers. Still, it's enough, loving how different the two seem to be. When she feels his hands slide a little bit further below the small of her back, a small smile forms on her lips. It disappears, though, when she hears footsteps.
In an instant she pulls away from Andrew, looking around for the sound. He looks on in confusion, only to see his mother open the front door. The elderly woman looks at her son, noticing his hair is a bit messy before looking at the unknown girl on her doorstep. "Who is this, Andrew?" she wonders, raising a brow at the girl.
"I'm Jamie Bender, Mrs. Clark. Nice to meet you." Jamie gives a smile so sweet it'd give Mrs. Clark a cavity. Instead, it makes the elder give a soft smile of her own, shaking the girl's hand. "I was just speaking to Andrew about our science project. Wanted to go over a few things," she clarifies. She can feel Andrew's eyes on her, but keeps her attention on Mrs. Clark, seeing the woman raise a brow.
Fuck.
"Andrew, you have lipstick on your face." The elder watches as the two's faces become as red as Jamie's lipstick, both wiping away at their face. "Bring my boy back by eleven. Is that clear?" Jamie looks up at her, nodding her head instantly. "Good. Have fun." In a moment the door is shut, leaving the two standing on the porch.
"...I like your mom," Jamie speaks up, receiving a scoff from Andrew in response.
"Do I still have lipstick on me?"
"There'll be more on you later. Forget about it," she shrugs, giving him a grin. He gives a smile in return. "You driving?" Her smile turns into a smirk, "I know a good burger joint."
Andrew lets a quiet chuckle past his lips, wiping away the lipstick once more before responding with, "Whatever you want," before they're off, smiles on bother their faces.
